Having personal coaches who basically try to let Russell Wilson make tweaks, but not fundamentally change his approach, is a major reason why he hasn't changed.    Maybe he's not going to change enough to make it work (but then Payton needs to tweak the system too in that case).      The only way Wilson gets fixed is if he's given an honest appraisal on what's working...and what's not on his end. 

Doesn't guarantee Wilson gets fixed.   But this kind of accountability is absolutely necessary.   Russell Wilson owns his part for 2022's failure.    And this is a clear sign he's got to accept that he's part of the problem, and the status quo isn't good enough.    Again, no guarantees, but from an approach perspective, it's a very hopeful sign (and if Wilson does fail, it's also clear it's Payton in charge - the real Payton risk is he doesn't stick around if Wilson experiment fails, but the 5-year contract at least gives us NO-style leverage if that happens - hope it doesn't, obv).

If Payton is still coaching Denver in 2024, he will have a return to New Orleans that season.
