The draft is starting to come into focus.  They have taken care of the OL and WR is not a major need now!!!!!

14   Will Levis  QB                 The value was to much to pass on. We  had him at the top of our board.  You have QB BB. " We did whats best for the team" !!!!!!!

46  Julius Brents  CB            We like his size and he did well in the combine.

76   Steve Avila  OG               We had him much higher on the board.

107  Zach Harrison   Edge      Good size was productive in college.

117 Jonathan Mingo WR        Has good size , can block and fight for the 50/50 balls!!!!

135 Luke Schoonmaker  TE   Good program, can block and catch.

184 Gervarrius Owens  S       We have scouted him for a while, bring skills need to be sucessful

187 Isaiah Moore LB               Very productive team leader, plays well and can stand up in the inside

192 Andrei Iosivas WR            Leader we like his size can block Has a skills for ST

210 Chad Ryland     K             Real consistent played in inclement weather, has a strong leg. (Moody still on the board)

245 Connor Galvin  OL           Our staff knows him, team leader, has size and skill we look for in the 7th RD.

And there I am !!!!!!!

This scenario feels like a very BB draft, when everyone is talking offense he decides he's going to bolster the defense and get a bunch of guys who can contribute day1.

14: Nolan Smith, OLB

- Leadership, great program, elite athleticism .. if he stays healthy he's going to be a dominant player.

TRADE: Patriots trade 46 to Seattle for 51 & 122

- Seattle wants a player and BB wants an extra day 3 pick where he has all his Shrine Bowl guys

TRADE: Patriots trade Josh Uche for a 2024 2nd round pick

- BB isn't a believer in Uche and wants to sell high, after Nolan Smith being available in the first round he's comfortable enough to trade Uche for a future 2nd.

51: Darius Rush, CB

- DBU, 6'2, elite athleticism, opposing QBR was under 50, can play man.. dominated the Senior Bowl. Starters day 1

*Senior Bowl

76: Tyler Steen, OT

- O'Brien and Saban seal of approval. He can become an above average starter at LT or RT and given their current situation he's able to be a backup year 1 before taking over full time.

*Senior Bowl

107: Dorian Williams, LB

- A small, fast, coverage LB? Feels unlikely from BB but the last couple years he's been looking for that type of guy to be next to Bentley.. Williams is a huge improvement over Mack Wilson and fits right into that 30-40% snap usage year 1.

117: Moro Ojomo, DL

- Their DL is aging and it isn't talked about enough, elite athleticism and seems like a guy who would be a steal in the 4th. I think he could get a lot of snaps year 1.

*Shrine Bowl

TRADE: Patriots trade 122 and 191 to Rams for 136 and 171

135: Bryce Ford-Wheaton, WR

- Huge, athletic, can make contested catches while also having great agility. Known as a great special teamer which is a plus.. but I think he could be a dominant big slot. Split JuJu / Bourne / Ford-Wheaton inside and outside and you can really mess with teams by exploiting miss matches. The Jets for instance have DJ Reed who is a 5'9 CB.. have Ford-Wheaton follow him around and just do jump balls. He's not a finished product but with 4 WR's locked in on the team he's a good guy to have at #5

*Shrine Bowl

136: Zack Kuntz, TE

- Project TE to replace Hunter Henry. Good option to sit behind him for a year, elite athlete who has good hands. Willing blocker but not great at it.

TRADE: Patriots trade 171 and 209 to Bears for 149

149: Jack Moody, K

- They seemed to love him at the Shrine Bowl.. no brainer here

*Shrine Bowl

183: Bryce Baringer

- I would have put Michael Turk here because they loved him at the Shrine Bowl.. but I think he is gone by this point. Baringer did really well at the Senior Bowl

*Senior Bowl

186: Terell Smith, CB

- Double up on CB in a great draft. Smith has elite athleticism and is a ball of clay. He had a great QBR at Minnesota too.

*Shrine Bowl

257: Alex Forsyth, C

- Klemm connection, David Andrews isn't getting any younger.

-Just did a MASSIVE write up for every single pick I made. 5 selections in the top 100. A few good trades. And between switching tabs on my phone, the forum completely erased my whole reply while I was still writing it.

-Absolutely fuming, this has happened a few times to me now.

Totally killed my motivation to even attempt to do it again. Oh well. Here’s what the picks looked like anyway..

Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami

Christopher Smith, S, Georgia

Karl Brooks, DL, Bowling Green

Gervon Dexter Sr, DL, Florida

trade for Allen Robinson, Rams

Bryce Ford-Wheaton, WR, West Virginia

Bryce Barringer, P, Michigan State

Jake Moody, K, Michigan

still had one pick left. Probably was gonna go Clayton Thune..🤷‍♂️

This is a player you look for in the draft. Great selection at 186.  See comments I look at the positives. Most times, negatives are made up or are easily fixed with coaching.

I don't know how to cut and paste on my phone, totally clueless. I do my best work on the computer. 🤢 I still can't cut and past PPF mock draft.

I can manage that part, and I suppose I’m going to have to start from now on when creating longer replies 🤔 bummer. I remember the site use to auto-restore whatever you had been writing and pop up a little message saying so once you came back to the site after a few moments away.. sucks but it is what it is. Felt like it would’ve been a game changer post. Lol. Maybe I’ll change my mind and re-create the scenario more in depth again. Sucks but it is what it is 🤷‍♂️

I’ve got today off from work at least. Using some of it to catch up on some film..

CB Deonte Banks is so nice. Enjoy watching his tape. DL Karl Brooks on another look has won me over. Safety Ji’Ayir Brown looks fun.

Devon Achane would’ve been neat as a mid round RB for us, too.

DL Karl Brooks

Remind me of Grady Jarrett coming out of college.  I don't see where he would fit in the Pats defense. To small for the inside not fast enough on the edge. I think he fits better with a team that shoot the gaps. Like Jarrett and the Falcons.

Safety Ji’Ayir Brown

I'm not a fan with any player that runs a 4.65 40 time. I would look at him as a UDFA.

CB Deonte Banks

This guy reminds me of Ty Law, he is physical and the kicker is he's a 4.35. IMO he the 3rd best CB in the draft. Unfortunately he will be long gone before Pats pick at 46.

ADDED   I hate hearing Joey Porter at 14.

I would take Banks if they go CB. Unfortunately what scares me is Porter at 6'2 and BB loves big bodies over CAN HE PLAY!!!!  Thats if the top two are gone.

I wouldn’t mind a trade down to 20-25 to select Deonte Banks, honestly. I think he’s got first round round talent, and that’s saying a lot given how deep the cornerback class is. He’s a freak!! I don’t know how I underrated him so much up until this point. I don’t want him at 14, but if we’re sitting later in the first round round, I sure would.

Porter is a nickel corner in the league I believe.. 6’2” and quick is nice, but I don’t think he can play outside against NFL receivers. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t want to spend a first round investment on him.

  1. Devon Witherspoon, Illinois
  2. Christian Gonzalez, Oregon
  3. Deonte Banks, Maryland
  4. Jaylon Jones, Texas A&M
  5. Cam Smith, South Carolina
  6. Joey Porter Jr., Penn State
  7. Tyrique Stevenson, Miami
  8. Garrett Williams, Syracuse
  9. Eli Ricks, Alabama

are ALL cornerbacks I’d take in the top two rounds however (Brian Branch is a safety who can play corner to me[and I’d still take him in the first])

First one.

This is mostly what I'd do, rather than what I think BB and Groh will do.

--- New England Patriots Trade Pick 1.14 to Seattle Seahawks for Picks 1.20 and 2.52 ---

1.20 - Nolan Smith - Edge, Georgia

2. 52 - Cody Mauch - T, North Dakota

--- New England Patriots Trade Pick 2.46 to NYG for Picks 2.57 and 3.89---

2.57 - Garrett Williams - CB, Syracuse

3.76 - Jordan Battle - S, Alabama

3.89 - Dorian Williams - LB, Tulane

--- New England Patriots Trade Picks 4.107 and 6.184 to Cleveland Browns for Pick 3.98---

3.98 - Moro Ojomo - DI, Texas

4.117 - Tre'Vius Hodgses Tomlinson - CB, TCU

4.135 - Xavier Hutchinson - WR, Iowa St

--- New England Patriots Trade Picks 6.187 and 6.210 to LAC for Pick 5.156 ---

5.156 - Zach Kuntz - TE, Old Dominion

6.192 - Asim Richards - T, UNC

7.258 - Aidan O'Connell - QB, Purdue

Done on PFF mock drafter.

IMO he's the most over rated player in the draft, not counting QBs.  He's this years Bucky's draft star. Notice his father in mentioned frequently by the inside guys!!! Maybe taking care of their own...much !!!

I say he plays for 10 teams before they figure, he can't play or he plays for BB and he keeps him, so he doesn't look like a fool for drafting him. EX  Joejuan Williams  and Harry!!!!

He's the only CB that won't upset me at 14. I think he's special.  I don't want any CB in the first, rather get one later.

What do you think of Hodges-Tomlinson?

Me, I think he's a good player. The problem which drives me crazy " he's small" I don't give a crap. He can play, blow out title game, this kid was killing himself until the final whistle, you win with guys like him.

Also He would look like a AP compared to Bryant!!

Unfortunately  I think Smith will go top 10 , as the draft gets close. It wouldn't shock me if he goes to Lyons at 6.

I see Mauch as a 3rd  pick.

One of my favorite player however I don't see the Pats drafting him after JJS.

  • 2 weeks later...

It’s officially draft month… Here’s one I worked on when I had some free time at work this morning.

14 - The Patriots trade pick 14 to the New York Giants, in exchange for picks 25, 57, and a 2024 5th round pick

25 - Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

New England snags an additional 2nd rounder and a future 5th round pick in exchange for dropping down 11 spots in the first round of this years draft. The Giants used the pick to select Boston College WR Zay Jones, further bolstering the receiver room around Daniel Jones.

46 - The Patriots trade picks 46 and 245 to the Chicago Bears for picks 53 & 103

53 - Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa

The Patriots get some fresh blood in the linebacker room for Jerod Mayo that they have been needing for a while now Campbell is instinctive, quick and decisive, and held his own when dropping back to cover a tight end in college.I don’t have a reason to believe he can’t at the next level.

57 - Siaki Ika, NT, Baylor

This is a guy that can eat up a double team and often shed off both the blockers. Can effectively line up as a 3-tech or 1-tech. Championship pedigree, won a ring at LSU in 2020. 6’3, 335lbs.

76 - Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami

Started his career at Georgia before moving on for more playing time. Size. Athleticism. Football IQ. Kid has it all. Deep corner class rewards us with what I believe to be a 2nd round talent coming off the board in the 3rd.

103 - Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State

107 - Darius Rush, CB, South Carolina

117 - Clayton Thune, QB, Houston

135 - Braeden Daniels, OL, Utah

The Patriots trade picks 192 & 210 to the Arizona Cardinals for pick 180.

180 - Noah Ruggles, Kicker, Ohio State

184 - Thomas Incoom, EDGE, Central Michigan

You got a haul and a pro bowl player.. love it

It feels like they just don't care about LB anymore.. it's super interesting. I doubt they take one early.

I wouldn't hate it but I think an edge is more likely. Judon is getting old and Uche isn't likely to be resigned.

DTR or bust to me this draft.. they need an athlete who can throw with potential

10 hours ago, DaPatsKid98 said:

Don't know him, is he an OT? Or OG?

10 hours ago, DaPatsKid98 said:

Wasn't he awful in the playoffs? After Bailey was cut I think it makes it much more likely they go punter than kicker.

Late for an edge, I think they go for one much earlier
