jimkelly02
The NFL just announced that Tom Brady retired. So much for the plan to sign Tom Brady. What do the Raiders do now? Does this help us trade Carr? If so what will we likely get for Carr? I had said the only way getting rid of Carr without trading him (for a 1st and change) would be if we could sign Brady. With that not an option now, we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. Off the top of my head/initial reaction: I think the only thing to do (besides firing McDaniels) would be to blow the team up and start a 3 year rebuild process, hope Stroud can be drafted at #7, trade Carr + Adams + Waller + Renfrow + tag and trade Jacobs to get as much draft capital as possible. We’d absolutely have to hit in the draft. Carry over massive cap into next season and after struggling our way to a top pick in ‘24 start signing FAs next year. Spend this year clearing the roster and taking the dead cap hits. We make our run starting in ‘25 and have 3 year window to win. unfortunately, with that idea I don’t think McDaniels is around after next year. Would we keep McDaniels if we are a 7 or less win team next year? Edited February 1 by jimkelly02
Jeremy408
It's funny that this is an actual thread on the Raiders forum. That's how much he was expected to come in and transform the team. So fellas what's the plan now?

It was widespread. i think the problem is we don’t have a plan. I think the Ziegler and McDaniels were all in on getting Brady, and now they won’t get him.
BobbyPhil1781
You mean he doesn't want to come to a rebuild at the age of 47 like so many tried to manifest living in some alternate reality? No.... *******.... way??

bucksavage1
We draft a QB at #7 or trade for Rodgers. I’m sure DA pounding the table for us to get Rodgers. It probably what he meant by having input on the next QB

Our defense Needs too much to fix with the then limited draft capital and cap space. Maybe we make playoffs but its not worth it to me. Trade everything of good value and draft a QB and rebuild. You guys aren't a mediocre QB away from even winning the division, let alone the SB.
101Raider
Dear Lord would McDaniels and Rodgers egos clash. No way those two can work together at this stage. You guys think Rodgers would put up with McD ripping him in the film room?
BobbyPhil1781
Do not give up two firsts for Rodgers. Good grief, no.

There is no real plan other than they didn’t want Carr which I understand but where they really banking on a 45 year old to come in and replace him? BackinBlack
Toms play clearly regressed big time this past year, it blew my mind people actually wanted him. Thankfully he realized it too, he wouldve been a disaster here.

I think they saw how badly Carr regressed down the stretch (54% comp/9 INT over his final 5 starts) and realized that he was going to cost them their jobs next season. I thought W/L were a QB stat though? He was 3-2 in his last 5 games. ohhhh boy, cant wait to see you flip an argument here lmao

Which means we used Carr to get Davante for no reason(unless of course you count jimmy G as a reason)
