NYRaider
What kind of deals do you expect to see these guys get this offseason? Rookie Extensions Lamar Jackson - Joe Burrow - Jalen Hurts - Justin Herbert - Tua Tagovailoa - Bonus Derek Carr - Jimmy Garappolo -
General Tso
For the rookies - whoever signs first is doing their team a favor, every successive signing will beat the previous person. I don't expect anyone to be fully guaranteed.
THE DUKE
Bengals and Burrow are already working on it. That's priority one of the offseason, so I expect Burrow to hold the largest contract in NFL history, and then for that to be broken after about a week.
Danger
My gut feeling for Jalen is 5/$230M ($132M Gtd)
biggie.
These QB contracts are getting out of control.
INbengalfan
I expect Burrow to sign like an 8 year extension (added to remaining two years) in the $400+ mill range. Huge signing bonus. Herbert will get a dollar more or something after that. the rest of the rookie deals will see shorter extensions. Burrow and Herbert are worth the Mahomes type deals in length. Hurts probably gets similar money, but 4-5 years added on. Nobody in their right mind signs Tua to anything yet, especially since he also has two years left. The wild card is how do the ravens and Lamar work it out? If not, they obviously tag him. Carr either gets a 1 year prove it deal or a three year deal north of $35 mill. Garoppolo probably is a stop gap option for a team drafting one of the top 4 QBs in April.

I'd be curious to see what the average of the top 5 AAV is over the years as a percentage of the cap.
Ray Reed
The hang up between Lamar and the Ravens is the fully guaranteed contract. If he sees guys like Burrow & Herbert sign non-fully guaranteed deals, and still refuses to take a contract other than fully-guaranteed, then he's gone. The Ravens simply aren't going to do it, and they shouldn't. He hasn't been available the last 5-6 games of the season the last 2 years during the most important stretches of the season. If he can't understand that, he's getting tagged and traded elsewhere.

Not to mention the Ravens already have a Pro Bowl QB to replace him.

Some Ravens fans are inclined to believe that Lamar is going to get back to 2019/2020 heights, and therefore is worth top QB fully guaranteed $, but the reality is that the last 2 seasons have not warranted that kind of contract. Damn skippy. One of the GOAT QBs irl tbh imo Edited February 3, 2023 by Ray Reed

Damn skippy. One of the GOAT QBs irl tbh imo The durability concerns along with his regression as a runner and a passer make it impossible to give him a fully GTD deal, IMO. He should've signed an extension after the 2020 season, why did he wait?

It'd have to have numerous injury stipulations.
