He was a great veteran presence for Mahomes and provided a much needed spark for us when pressed into short term duty. He was basically a QB coach that had a roster spot, so I wouldn't be surprised if EB moves on (hopefully as a head coach for a team like Arizona), Nagy becomes OC and Henne is hired as the QB coach.

I figured he would immediately move into coaching. Staying with KC would be ideal.

Hopefully for the Chiefs, Nagy isn't the one calling the plays in that scenario

Yeah.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Chenne become part of the whole Andy Reid "coaching tree".

He's clearly got some aptitude for it.  There's a reason Andy has kept him around all these years, and it's not his raw, unbridled physical tools at age four-hundred and thirty-seven.

Even with Jacksonville...it always felt like he had a much better understanding of what he should do on the field, than he was able to ever actually deliver on.  That disconnect between "understanding" what the intent of a play is, and executing it in the moment on the field.  The thing that often seems to separate a good QB from a good Coach/Coordinator.  But he was always superb as a clipboard holder - and i mean that genuinely.  He was always there on the sidelines, helping the other bust QBs try to learn and figure things out.  I largely credit him with turning Gabbert into a serviceable backup for a number of years.  He also probably taught Bortles that the headsets are not two-way, and he cannot talk to the OC through his helmet on the field.

The real question is...does he have the "creativity" to run with it like other Andy Reid disciples have?  Or is he going to turn into a guy who just regurgitates old Andy Reid material and can't adapt and adjust?

While I'm not a huge fan of that idea, I am not opposed as it maintains the offensive philosophical structure that Reid has established. We also need to keep in mind that Nagy parlayed success as an OC for Kansas City into a HC position with the Bears. Not every coach is HC material and that may be the case with Nagy. Reid puts alot of value on coaching relationships and prefers to work with coaches and coordinators that he has experience with.

I would have preferred Kafta have been the OC heir apparent, but his star rose quicker than our openings would allow us to keep him. Maybe Henne could be that OC-in-waiting after working as a QB coach for a year or two?

I can just say that as a playcaller, he was garbage in Chicago.  Maybe with less responsibility, he'd be better at it, but I don't think so.

No better way to retire than going out on top (Tom Brady should have taken note of this). Congrats to Henne on his second Super Bowl ring!

As for his retirement, his career was uninspiring at Miami and Jacksonville until he arrived at Kansas City and helped guide them to Super Bowl victories in LIV and LVII. That being said, despite having those two rings, I'm not sure that the rest of his resume is strong enough for his bid into the Hall of Fame.
