Must’ve not had many other options, it’s a risky move without knowing who’s playing QB. If EB flames out in DC, even without decent QB play, it’ll be the last excuse anybody needs not to bring him in as a HC.

Built in excuse if it doesn't work.

I don't know how everything will shake out with Bienemy as OC.

There's still much to happen, with a new owner coming very soon.

We still have FA & the Draft.

But it really all hinges on the QB situation.

If Sam Howell is as good as myself, others & Bienemy himself believe?

Washington will be in the thick of the Playoff hunt next season. Heck, they were this year with Wentz & Heinicke.

They already have a top 10 Defense. (Fact...not my opinion)

They have a lot of weapons on Offense.

What they don't have is a very good O-Line & a blue chip TE.

If they fix this?

I won't need to make predictions in General forum.

Because it simply won't be necessary anymore. 😁

It will just happen.

So we'll see....

If the title is OC/AHC, you would think there is an agreement in place that Bienemy becomes HC when Riverboat Ron retires.

Why would there have to be an agreement? Instead of the record books reading

2022 KC Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy

To give the impression he's got a different job (which he doesn’t mind you) it says EB got a promotion......to

2023 Carolina Panthers  OC/"AHC" Eric Bieniemy

To lure him away from KC.  They have to give the man something to get him to quit his current job as the OC of a championship team and take the same position on a team that wasn't even in the playoffs this year.  Otherwise, why would he want to move?  My guess is that if they want to talk him into doing that, they have to give him more money and the promise that there would be something more down the line.  Otherwise, it just doesn't make a lot of sense for Bienemy make the move, unless he was unhappy in KC, which is probably not the case.

Here I thought that was the whole point? To get from under Andy Reids shadow, actually call plays without having a HOF caliber QB under center so he can be given some semblance of credit as a real Play Caller / OC rather then being viewed as just the "little helper" for the Andy & Pat Show..

The Title is fluff to make the move and money look legit rather then the lateral move it really is to get said recognition. One way or another.

Obviously getting out of Reid's shadow was one of the motivating factors but I also read that KC only gave him one year deals while Washington offered him a multi year contract with a buyout. So even if the new ownership group wants to make a coaching change they'd have to pay him. I also read that the new ownership group approved the hire so this hire seems more so like the HC in waiting rather than just the OC/assistant head coach.

I don't really buy into the idea that Howell is really the QB1 going into next season. If he is, I'd imagine that Washington will trade up for Levis or Richardson as a developmental guy in the draft.
