That's one way to do it...

Yeah why would you want to meet and interview all the best players in the up coming draft and see them workout and run live.  How stupid....  ?   Sure they have Pro days but the combine is so many guys all at once and such access, it is stupid not to do it compared to flying all over the freaking country going to hundreds of Pro days...which they will do as well because they have so many people available to do so, still the combine is amazing access and even the thought that some want to get rid of it is dumb....

Not to mention it gets pretty decent ratings and attention for the NFL as well in a down time for the league obviously.

That last part can't be overstated. And not going is giving the league the finger.

It’s now a trend. How widespread it becomes remains to be seen.

Some coaching staffs have decided not to attend the Scouting Combine. For most casual observers, it’s a jarring revelation given the hype and focus devoted to the first of the league’s offseason tentpole events. If, after all, multiple coaching staffs are boycotting the festivities, maybe it’s not as big of a deal as Big Shield wants us to think it is.

Here’s the reality of the NFL’s offseason off-field reality show. Some have decided that their time is better spent working in the team facility for the week. They can spend the day doing multiple things, from making decisions about which of their own players they’ll keep to which free agents they’ll pursue to which incoming players they may want to try to add.

Peter King: "The Bears have the first overall pick in 2023. There are four quarterbacks likely to go in the first half of the first round, and four teams with major quarterback needs in the top nine: Houston (two), Indianapolis (four), Las Vegas (seven) and Carolina (nine). I hear—though it might be smoke—that none of the four wants to scotch-tape a veteran like 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers and probably not Derek Carr. So the Bears, if they’re not going to use the first pick on a quarterback, could get rich quick by using quarterback desperation against these four teams."
