Lingard definitely has improved. That he's turned into one of their most important out-field players, what does that say about their recruitment? Interesting thought. Last game, 7 players were SAF players. The backline of Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young (and DDG) - all SAF players.

Lingard has improved for sure. I like this new role in the centre of the park for him. Although I'm not holding my breath.

The comment about signings since SAF is partly true.

Although you could argue Bailey and Blind were regulars until this season, when injury and Youngs form required a change.

If Darmien were given a run in the team I think he'd be out best RB. Valencia is a great attacking FB but still lacking defensively.

United fans I've heard from think Darmian is a bust. I thought he was good for Italy against us.

Darmian sucks... we need two fullbacks.

Shaw has been showing promise again the last few matches, but I'm not sure if he is ever going to be the type of player he was before his injury.

I think Shaw needs a coach who is actively trying to get the best out of him, in order to return to what he was before. Mourinho isn't that guy.

I looks like the board is forcing Jose to play Shaw and are not budging to buy somebody like Rose. One thing I'm very pleasantly surprised is how he's played several consecutive games now with no noticeable dip in performance, and I think that's a sign that he's learning how to pace himself better through games. That's something that I thought was missing from his game pre-and post-injury.

If he can build from here, I think we'll have a good-to-potentially-great LB in Shaw yet, although it's still unclear if he'll ever manage to fulfill the potential he had prior to the leg break.

Have to say, he still looks a tad too chunky though.
