Should Cushing play for the Texans?

  1. 1. What to do with Cushing?

    • Let him play - we need all the help we can get
      2
    • Cut him w/dishonorable discharge - lifetime cheater with a contract built on fraud
      7
    • IR him - dude can't play anymore, season going nowhere, adds to "injury excuse" for lost season
      2
    • Host retirement presser - set the stage for ring of honor induction as to sell tickets / create distraction for lost season in 4 years

If we cut him now do we still save cap space as if we were to cut him this offseason?

Think he has to be a June 1st cut to get the cap saving, so no.

I say keep him inactive for the rest of the season. Zach Cunningham is getting invaluable experience, Dylan Cole needs snaps to catch up on his impressive start - Cushing really doesn't bring much to the table that our current rotation does (and who knows how much he's got now that he's off the 'roids - wouldn't be surprised if he could get trucked by Will Fuller right now).

Cushing played his last game as a Texan when Fournette stole his soul and concussed him Week 1. Let's just pretend none of this happened, move on with your young guys.

If that's the case then yeah I would make him a healthy scratch the rest of the season to see the younger guys play.

Young guys need the reps. Cushing embarrassed this organization multiple times and his play has fallen off a cliff. His contract was given (by an incompetent GM) to him based on his play when juiced up, he deceived this organization and we should go after him to recoup some of that money.

So Texans were granted a "one week roster exemption" for Cushing.  Cut Lamarr Houston, IR'd Ben Heeney (who?), and promoted LBs Gimel President and Latroy Lewis from the practice squad, so presumably that means we're at "see what we have in xx" point of the season as Houston looked better in limited snaps than Cushing has in years.  McKinney & Cunningham are clear starters with Dylan Cole a high upside backup.  Peters is Special Teams Captain and Jalini Jenkins is the pass coverage specialist.  Team is 4-7 and might have 1 win left if we're lucky. Cushing lost any right to "leave on his own terms" and honestly, should be boo'ed off the field if we give him some sort of Eli Manning final lap (but won't which is even more embarassing).

If we cut Cushing and he's picked up on waivers, they pick up the remainder of the contract (sans signing bonus).  Honestly, we'd actually be doing him a favor if we cut him as it's possible a team like the Pats or Rams (Wade) picks him up and he gets a shot at a ring.  My preference is that McNair reminds Cushing about how he vouched for him and his pregnancy hormone defense, gave him $53 million after his first suspension and while on crutches, kept paying him instead of Barwin (and maybe Bouye), and makes sure he goes to a worse dumpster fire than ours with the Browns and Giants having waiver priority.  Thank him for all his charity work (you're no Lance Armstong despite excuse #1 which was claiming you had HCG in your system from a tumor) and encourage him to donate his salary to all the clean athletes he stole jobs/cap space from, players he injured while juiced, and failed high school athletes who saw how Cushing went from scrawny Jersey Catholic School kid to USC star and NFL Pro Bowler and thought the sleazy dude in the back of the gym could help get them there, too.  Don't let the door hit you in your needle poked butt - Cush. Hope Carl Lewis sings his terrible version of the national anthem and reminds Houstonians how Ben Johnson stole his Gold Medal but left in disgrace as drugs cheats should.

BTW - Gotta love the Enron situational ethics of McNair who demands a guy like Jameel Cook immediately be cut for having some weed in his car (charges dropped), Willie Jefferson, Sam Montgomery, and Cierre Wood for sharing a blunt in their hotel room, but he personally goes to bat for Cushing and blacklisted media members who called out his "heart and soul of the team" flag bearer.  1 time Pro Bowler (and "Salute To Service" Award Winner) Cushing is kept at his full salary years after it is clear his knees are shot, yet 4 time Pro Bowler Arian Foster (and philandering hippie vegan) is run out of town, 7 time Pro Bowler Andre Johnson the next, Duane Brown the next (all without replacements on the roster, better yet two 2nd round picks).    Same guy who had to have David "I've gotta leave the building early for Bible Study" Carr over Julius Peppers to start the franchise.  Makes ya wonder about who are the guards and who are the inmates in Warden McNair's eyes, huh?
