And MANY, more than not, were saying Brady had declined when he had not declined what so ever. Just like Rodgers hasn't. First of all, in NE, Tom Brady did show signs of possible decline and even in Tampa Bay, he wasnt quite the polished QB he had been in NE, albeit still very good. Last year, well, he was a shell of his former self imo. As far as Rodgers... did you actually watch him play last year? Now first of all do I think that he improves or fixes the jets quarterback problems? In the short term, yes I do. Having said that , He clearly did not have the same pocket escapability, And at the thrower he wasn't nearly as efficient I'll be it still good. .The Green Bay offense overall was pretty terrible last year. Where he has really declined, Although maybe it was never really there to be honest is as a leader. This not a guy thats gonna show up to voluntary work outs or embrace the young guys. He wants all these walking skeletons because theyre 'his dudes', and his age. It doesnt matter that NYJ doesnt need them. Should the jets want aaron rogers? I dont think anyone should. It makes more sense to give Jackson the contract he wants and give up that value given that Jackson likely plays more than 1 season.
incognito_man
Jets got some new draft capital. Looks like picks 42+43 are equivalent to about pick 18ish. I imagine this changes things.
ronjon1990
Really depends on how long he plays for them. I don't quite think they were just a QB away for 2023.

This makes them playoff contenders, but they’re still too young/average in other areas to be considered title contenders. Plus I think Rodgers is washed…washed to like…very good instead of elite.

If things all click for them they definitely have a chance. I don't think anyone was picking the Bengals or Eagles to be in the Super Bowl going into the season. Their defense is elite, their OL could realistically come together, they have a good group of skill guys, their young talent should improve, but most importantly going from Wilson to Rodgers is like going from a toy car to a ferrari. brownie man
I feel like he’s gotta give them two seasons with no questions on if he comes back i could see the third one be a toss up but he’s gotta give them 2 years without bitching and complaining for this to be worth it. Gotta get a two year handshake agreement guarantee the contract if you have to.

Aaron is a terrible GM/recruiter - the add-ons for Aaron take away from the value. It's an overpay for a role guy. He's not s bum. Which is why I was worth pointing out and seeing you squirm trying to defend your earlier post Aaron isn't the GM, our GM was so bad at bringing in impact players on offense that Cobb was actually a decent get. Green Bay can never get free agents. That's now on Rodgers? This guy is amongst the most delusional in the Packers forum. We had the rare chance to get Odell with him wanting to come to green bay or the Rams. Gute offered obj 400k and the Rams gave him 3 million to have a huge impact on their run to the Superbowl. I'm sure that was Rodgers recruiting.. Imagine making a mountain out of a mole hill for "Rodgers guys" big dog is beloved by all and was really cheap. Cobb was a good vet that made some tough catches for us while being a good mentor for the young guys. You think he's calling to bring in washed Cobb if the GM had drafted some talent at TE or WR? Absolutely not. We were top of the league in drops with a bunch of rookies and washed vets with no speed when Watson was out nearly half the year. Our GM is so out of touch he thought Lazard was a legit number one going into the year. Lazard was certainly overpaid but it makes sense in this new scenario with the jets. Imagine MVS being the best weapon you drafted in 4 years, that you had no interest in bringing back when his contract was up (rightfully so) with the second best being the bad st Brown or a 2nd round rookie in Dillion that has been disappointing to say the least.

I mean, he's not cooked but he's not what he was in 2020 and 2021. He didn't put the work in last year because he wasn't as invested. He said himself that he didn't work his lower body the same way he did in those years and you could tell based on the throws. His fundamentals are flat out trash and it effects his throws if he doesn't have that same lower body strength. And it wasn't just the young WR group, it was also on 12. He had guys open, he's just a stubborn asshat on the field and either made preconceived reads or just didn't trust the guy enough to make a "risky" throw and mess with his INT numbers. He's still likely to be the best QB the Jets have ever had just based on the fact that he's Aaron Rodgers but he's not without his flaws.

Doubtful he puts them over the top but making the playoffs for the first time since 2010 should satiate the organization and fan base a bit. SB expectations would be pretty grandiose after such a drought.

Agree. I think it's a great move for them, even though it wasn't the championship move more than likely.
