Is there any DT option worth taking other than Jalen Carter at 1-17. I’d argue no, and I don’t see them taking a receiver or LB at that slot. I suppose safety has an outside shot there.

From the mock drafts I’ve done on PFF the value seems to be CB or OT.

I wouldn’t necessarily rule out anything, as the Steelers tend to surprise us on draft day, sometimes to our non expert based disappointment. I have no problem taking an elite receiver, but to me there would have to be a big slide and a high ceiling if it’s inthe first or second. I would have preferred a free agent veteran slot option, as we are quite young at the WR position. That said, I think both Calvin Austin and Anthony Miller are capable of surprising people, the former in various roles and the later in the slot. I am torn about the type of receiver, whether it is height weight speed high ceiling guy or a prototypical slot in the draft, but This is in the clearly in context to me as ‘3rd round the earliest’. Kenny Pickett should have told Addison to intentional run a 4.9, basically. LOL

Depending on who is there, they could take JSN.  They could also take D. Jones, Nolan Smith, JPJ or Paris Johnson.  All depends who is the BPA.

I don’t know if I would go that far, after this year we might have Pickens and then a couple of guys we’ve never seen play much. I just want them to stick to their board, if JSN is ranked internally that much higher than anyone else take him I’d rather that than reaching for someone like DJones at 17. I don’t see DJ being back and I think there’s quality in the 2nd and 3rd to make up if you go WR early. Something like JSN, Forbes, Campbell, Benton might be possible with out first 4 picks. I’d be perfectly happy with that even taking WR at 17

If Calijah Kancey makes it to 17, I'd be hard pressed to draft him. 1st round is when you draft superior athletes with unlimited potential. CK is that type of player.

 if the WR ends up like Randy Moss, then it's good, but if the WR ends up in a matt canada offence and doesn't even score a TD (sound familiar?) , then yes, total wasted RD1 pick. I thought the team deserved mediocrity when the let the line of scrimmage go to the wayside. Unfortunately, thats been the reality as well

wouyld you take Kancey  instead of Forbes? Kancey has the chance to be wasted here  much like Hargrave was . Forbes will be ball hawk from day 1, maybe get a few pick 6's  along the way as well.  Kancey would be great to have after other needs are taken care of. If he goes to the right team, I expect him to be a disruptive player.  Forbes will be good regardless

tough decision with Kancey and Forbes because a great passrush always helps everyone in the secondary.  A really good CB is effective when the pass is thrown his way but on other plays not so much.

Forbes, but how about trading down a bit maybe low 20's for Forbes?  I'm in agreement with you on this, Forbes all the way. 

They could get a safety in RD3 or RD4 unless they get one in UFA . 

This is THE year to trade back since the 32 pick is there. Maybe trade both back a bit and get some more picks

See, I would LOVE to take Nolan Smith.  The guy is a playmaker, has incredible instincts, and can fill a number of different possible 'positonings', depending on the play.  I must also admit that I like his character, and at least, appearance of intelligence, when interviewed.  I know, that doesn't really mean a hill-a-beans, in the long run, but he just sounds like a very down-to-earth, team-oriented young man.

Even if they coached him simply to be a straight Edge player, and nothing else, I think he's gonna be very successful in the NFL. Add all of that to his 6'2" 240lb frame, he's not far off from what Highsmith was (6'3" 250).  That's just 10lbs lighter, and 1" shorter.  Plus, 4.39 40? 41.5" Vertical? 

I'm quite 'alone' on this, I know, and chances are, he'll likely be gone by 1.17, or even if he is there, not likely to be the pick, but in my estimation, this is the type of player you bring in to give a jolt to the defense...

...and as far as Calijah Kancey?  Yeah, I'd be perfectly happy with him the in 2nd, as well, under the same thought process.  He doesn't necessarily fit what we want in a DT/DE, but man, he's a difference maker.

But if I were to guess as to what will happen, then yes, a CB, followed by Mazi Smth at 32, if still there, and I'd be okay with that as well...
