This is everything I have ever dreamed of.

Sirius revealing himself and offering his support to Dumbledore.

Neville Longbottom’s BAMF scene not being neutered.

Neville possibly having been the chosen one.

The massive amount of things that happened offscreen in the movies.

JK Rowling is going to be a producer.

Ben Wishaw is the only living person I can imagine as Severus Snape.

Gary Oldman needs to be Dumbledore so bad it’s not even funny. He can do that whimsical silliness you need from book Dumbledore.

OR… EFFING OR!

Jared Harris as Dumbledore!

Richard Harris to Jared Harris!

Either way, Wishaw, Oldman and Harris all need to be major roles in this.

I’ll let it happen and won’t bemoan too much. It’s easy money and doesn’t delete the original movies if it fails.

At least they’re not doing the recent HBO thing and trying to cram all 7 books into one 6 episode season.

My main hope: don’t reuse any of the original actors. Use British actors. And preferably pluck nobodies for the child roles.

You shut your stupid mouth.

Now there are only two HBO series I want to see before I die:

The Thing and Jurassic Park.

I like Harry Potter and grew up reading all the books/watching all the movies. Don't think this needs to be milked again this soon.

My nonchalance is based on a lack of surprise that it is. It won’t come close to the magic of the original movies

I don't think there's enough world building or content in the source material to make full length seasons of each book unless they're like 5-6 episodes long.

The other option is a lot of additional things and changes not in the book which is sure to piss off the only audience that would be excited about this.

This is what I said they should do with the original Star Wars movies and I am willing to die on that hill and have you all hate me for it.

Idk, fencing with laser swords sounds pretty weak

There is so much world building available it’s not even funny.

Ask yourself two questions:

1. How many scenes in the books and movies took place without Harry Potter involved or on screen?

2. How much happened during the events of the world that were crucial to Harry’s story?

There will be an entire episode dedicated to Snape’s memories towards the end of the series and it is going to be one of the most profound television episodes of anything ever.
