I’m going with Calijah Kancey. Sure Bijan is tempting but there’s guys like Gibbs, Achane, Charbonnet, Izzy Abanikanda, Keaton Mitchell etc… that could be had later. There’s no other Kancey in this draft. He is a true game wrecking DT and will absolutely cause hell up the middle when teams are focused on Parsons, Sam Williams, Armstrong, and Fowler on the edge.

To me this is between Bijan, Kancey, and Forbes. All are electric in there own way. Unlike Bijan, I would expect Kancey to be here for 10 years. Unlike Forbes, we don’t have an all pro stop gap in Kanceys spot. Kancey represents an electric player with positional value for a vacant spot in the roster.

Count me in on Kancey. He rules

I think this whole exercise showed that we’re in pretty decent shape sitting at 26. Someone with a strong pedigree is bound to fall. There weren’t a bunch of objectionable picks in our mock- the real thing is bound to be wilder

Where’s the trade back option?

I hate this, but was pretty confident Bijan was going to make it to our pick. Passing on a consensus top 5 player at pick 26 is bad policy no matter the situation imo. At least here 26 is far more palpable than 4.

Dallas just had to learn from past mistakes and not ante up a 2nd contract.

I went Bijan. This allows us to move on from TP next year.

I can get the logic of securing a talented player.

I’m less impressed by being able to move on from a RB. Pollard was a 4th round pick.

What about our RT? Will Steele recover? Will Smith retire?

What about RG? How many years does Martin have left?

What about C? Will we re-sign Badazz?

What about LG? We still don’t have a long term solution.

Bijan is an elite talent. And worthy of a 1st round pick. But I’m not at all concerned about replacing a 4th round pick at a position that can be successful late.

What happens in 2023? Do we have a $10M a year guy getting spot duty because we drafted RB in the first? Or do we have our first round pick getting the lite work because of our $10M RB? Some might call it a good problem to have, and other’s might point to a RB committee, but I say it’s a waste of resources. TP could pair with Izzy Akanibanda and be replaced next season.

Exactly.

I also acknowledge I’m terribly biased and don’t want a 1st round rb again.

Well, the thing is… it’s a late first. When you have 17-23 players a year with first round grades, getting one at 26 is nice. Now the Cowboys board might have a 1st round grade on Steve Avila. Who knows?

I never want to draft a RB in the top 15 again. But once you get to the 20th pick,  then out passed the 25th pick… idk. If he’s a true Christian McCaffery… why not?

I think I know where this is about to go. Should be important to note that we have not met with Bijan at all. No interview at the combine. No 30 visit. No dinners. Nothing. We did meet with his agent though.

No reported meetings. We don’t have nearly a full list of combine interviews, and we only have about half of the 30 visits. Maybe they just feel really comfortable with him and don’t want to tip their hand.

I think Bijan will be the pick if he’s there. That’s not my ultimate preference, but I expect it to be the case.

I don’t love the board. I picked Darnell Washington. Would have no qualms with quite a few others, including Cancey, Avila, and any of the corners.

However, I would bail from this board. Someone please call.

I’m just thinking if all these players hit the ceiling and turned into their pro comps then who do we have? Bijan, Kancey, Avila, Hyatt, and Forbes seem to be the most mentioned.

Christian McCaffrey, Lightweight Aaron Donald, Travis Frederick that can play guard, Will Fuller, or skinny Trevon Diggs

We don’t have a full list but Bijan said he wasn’t scheduled to meet with us formally. I figured word would break pretty quick if they did.

“INDIANAPOLIS - Texas star Bijan Robinson announced from the podium here at the NFL Scouting Combine that he has not met formally in Indianapolis with the Dallas Cowboys and that he's not scheduled to do so.“
