could get drafted by Steelers but you don't want them to

Gervon Dexter is #1 on my list for DND.  As I said, he always seems to be the last person moving on any snap.  when the 340lb NT get getting the jump on your DE, i am not sure whether to like the NT or hate the DE.  I chose the later.

I'm not very good at scouting players, but Dexter's lack of snap anticipation is so glaring that it cannot be missed.

As for @3rivers question, I'm not really sure. I agree that I'm not a big fan of Dexter. I'm not sure if he'd be my least favorite, though. I'm generally pretty neutral on about every prospect. I used to be a big fan of Trenton Simpson but that has cooled a bit. I think I'm in a decent place to not be too upset about our picks. But in actuality I'll be the one buying a new tv due to a projectile remote lol

a player that is slow off the snap should be removed from the board

do you have a few others  for DND?

this thread is more for prospects that you don't think would fit the scheme here or for other reasons. It's not saying they can't turn into good players or even be good right away on the right team. Or of course, they would be overdrafted here, and thats always frowned upon of course. Maybe the thread should be the player then the draft slot, but lets hope the draft goes well.  Every once in a while I see a clip and  I get a bit of a scare thinking they will waste some of the early picks, does that happen to others here?

Hmmm well in that case, I'll keep thinking about it. I know Kalijah Cancey is not much of a fit in a traditional 3-4. I think a creative DC could get a lot out of him, though. I think he'd be a fun player to bring in, stick at 3-tech and let him destroy slow footed guards. I think our Austin is good enough to craft a secondary around about any type of CB prospect. I feel a lot better about Austin than I did Butler. I think Butler was great at continuing Lebeau's legacy, but Austin seems to be a bit more of his own coach. I think the WR class is not great, but I think most of the guys would fit in our system. I would hesitate to take Johnston, though. He reminds me so much of Claypool it's scary. The smaller TEs aren't fits, but I don't think they're realistic picks.

Ringo - with so many other corners that are good , why take the chance. I don't care if he is fast for his height/weight, there are many others in the draft.

Dexter - see above

Bresee - redshirting RD1 pick is annoying

JPJ - will he adapt to the pro's or get too many penalties and struggle when asked to play off or zone?

Branch - why risk RD1 on him for nickel when CB Phillips can nickel and be had later?

Edge RD1 - does this spell the end of Highsmith? If so, is the pick going to be as good?

Nolan Smith. Too light to hold up against the rim, is not a space player. He’s a finesse undersized edge. Basically Hassan Redick but not as good.

what are the chance you see them taking him and letting Highsmith walk? This is something that would really bother us and the teammates , can't happen

Van Ness. I think he can be a decent player, but I'd hate to see him at 17.

I like VanNess but he needs a year to learn his craft.  for the Steelers, they would want to put 25-30lb on him.  Hopefully muscle.  He would be a good Cam replacement in a year or so IF he could put on the 30 lbs.  Do the Steelers have a year to wait?

Klu Blue Kelly is another player that is a DND but the Steelers are not looking at him I hope.  I think he is out of the league within 3 years.  On tape he can ONLY play press man because of his physical limitations.  His hips are slow so he needs to get his hands on a WR to give himself a chance.  He is a disaster in off-man or zone.

Ringo i would take if he is a safety.  Not a CB.

we better have Highsmith and not 'need' Van Ness. I like the idea of Herbig later and still hope they get a proven vet. Not interested in players that might turn into legit pros after a few years because thats a waste of a few years IMO. Productivity needs to be now, not 3 years from now. Or at least not early in the draft, thats for undrafted or late rounds. KC got good play from their rooks last year  , and thats important IMO

still a risk, no way to know he would make the transiton as expected.  If you are the 49ers and have a surplus of picks, then it could be worth the risk eventually

what about redshirting Vorhees ? I like this if he's there later, it's the opposite of the thread title but may as well add that.

Hopefully in the 3rd or later. Sounds like quite the project.

why waste time with projects when there are proven players for CB and then Safety?  I hope this FO isn't one thats geared towards project players and combine climbers. Get players that know the position and have proved they consistently play that position properly and can start asap if required.
