Adrian Phillips is currently on the field more as a linebacker than Jatavis Brown or Korey Toomer. Yeah, that third safety is a tricky thing to navigate. And given the limited reps that Rayshawn Jenkins gets, it's hard to place whether Bradley wants him, eventually, slotted into Phillips' spot or Addae's. Does this make sense to you: Phillips getting more reps than Brown on the field? Quote From the Chargers mailbag today - Q: What's wrong with Jatavis Brown? He was leading the team in tackles earlier in the season and now his snaps have dwindled. – Diego Ramirez A: Jatavis Brown’s playing time was far and away the hottest topic in this week’s mailbag. The answer is simple – the Bolts have been more successful with Adrian Phillips on the field. It is not an indictment on Brown at all, but the team inserted AP into this role Week 5 against the Giants, which has coincided with the Chargers going 6-2 since. The need to turn to Phillips came when Brown was dealing with a nagging injury. He has been fully healthy for a while, but with the way AP is playing and the return of Denzel Perryman, there has been no need to change what is currently working. It’s a good problem to have when a player like Brown is unable to crack the lineup.

Xenos
Chris McCain isn't a LB. And Jatavis isn't even playing right now.

Well, McCain is listed as a DE, but he's been playing the LEO which is otherwise known as the Elephant LB (has been ever since Pete Carroll was using this scheme at USC - it's literally what they called Clay Matthews' position). Jatavis isn't playing right now largely because his play has dropped off from last season. That said, I wouldn't necessarily call LB a "need," but it's a position I could certainly see the team drafting if they get really good value on a prospect who, for whatever reason, falls in the draft (the way Desmond King did this year).
