Chase Young would have to be a first. I don't particularly care if the fanbase has soured on Young as I believe his upside is still that of what I saw at OSU. I still think he ultimately ends up being that guy so it would take a high first to pry him away. Sweat, I would take a low first to high second. They're both young and pass rushers are a premium. I still think their failure to get above double digit sacks is scheme related and I do believe if either are dealt away or leave via free agency their numbers will jump quite a bit.

If you offered me a 2nd rounder for either I would definitely say yes. The Top 100 would get heavy consideration depending on who was on the board.

I'd say yes to Montez Sweat. I'm not trading Chase Young right now. There's too much untapped potential & he's 3 years younger than Sweat.

Currently, I wouldn't trade Chase for the reasons you laid out. I’d also point out that Chase is 3 years younger than Sweat. Sweat is a year older than Daron Payne despite being drafted the year after him as well.

If you're going to invest in one of the two long-term & keep them around, it should be the younger guy, Chase.

Sweat isn’t that young anymore. He's going to be 27 before the season starts & if I'm offered a 3rd or better for Sweat then I’d take it.

Trading neither of them at this point. Montez Sweat is our best pass rushers and that isn't saying a whole lot.

I did see a Chicago Bears beat reporter say that they would give up a 3rd this year and a 1st next for Sweat and that would be highway robbery for us IMO.

I too believe that Chase Young is very talented. It would be a tremendous loss to accept anything less than a 1st for him. I don't believe anyone offers that, thus why I believe we don't trade either.

I would pull the string on that in a heart beat. A) you’re ready in 2024 to go get a QB if you need to or B) you’re ready to get two high impact guys.

It would kinda depend where the offering team was drafting. I said a 1st for Chase and a 2nd for Montez. But with Chase, I’m probably not taking pick #31 for him, and with Tez, I’m probably not taking pick #62 either.

I’m not nearly as concerned about the issue of paying all these guys down the road as most people seem to be. Or as I used to be, for that matter. “It’s a lot of money tied up in the DL.” Well no kidding, that’s where most of the most talented guys on our team live! Of course that’s going to be a costly unit. We’d all love to re-allocate that talent a little more evenly, but that’s easier said than done.

Given the DE talent in this draft, it would be a good time to make such a move. If you told me I could get a pick around #40 for Tez, I would probably do that. Take Myles Murphy at 16 and look at OT/CB/TE/LB at 40 and 47. And then pour some of that saved money into a Curl extension.

I'm not trading Chase Young. Obviously if someone offered something ridiculous for him then yes, but other than that I wouldn't. Montez I would trade for a 1st rounder or a very early 2nd rounder. This is the year that it's going to finally show our true talent on the Dline. I think year 2 Chase came in way too high on himself, didn't put in the work in the offseason and was too busy doing all these brand deals, and was humbled. Then has to sit out almost all of year 3, and is going to come in hungrier than ever year 4. That's only going to make everything easier for the other 3 as well.

It would be very interesting to see how other teams would vote on this for what their team would give up.

My guess is Chase wouldn’t garner much compensation right now. Coming off a major knee injury that kept him off the field for 21 games between 2021 & 22.

Okuda was traded for a 5th. If the C’s were trade Chase its hard to imagine he’d get much more than that. That's why I will never agree with anyone who says the team should trade Chase now. It just doesn't make sense.

I think the DL is going to have a huge year as well, plus they have Mathis who will be rotating in at DT.

So, possibly Chase or Sweat get traded next year, but I don't see it right now. It's also one reason why giving Chase the 5th year option makes sense. They need to evaluate the two DEs - especially Chase - the best of the 2 gets their contract extension next offseason, the other is traded IMO.

One trade I would consider right now is Montez Sweat for Devin White, the MLB of the Bucs who wants to be traded bc he's not getting the contract extension offer he'd like to see from the Bucs.
