Tetsujin
It’s so prevalent when you buy an appropriately sized buttondown short sleeved shirt, it can fit nicely around the chest but the sleeves are almost always really baggy. I have huge arms, in the 99th percentile of size, and they’re absolutely swimming in the baggy sleeves. Maybe they’re in cahoots with the tailors. I always get the sleeves shortened and narrowed for a better appearance. And the sleeves are usually an inch or two past the elbow too, which is a crappy look. minutemancl
...your short sleeve button down shirts regularly have extremely baggy sleeves that extend 1-2 inches past your elbows? Those aren't shirts, those are JNCOs you're wearing on your torso. Edited April 17, 2023 by minutemancl

Summerall-Madden
Good guesses and maybe they want to protect our sleeves over in the sun possibly.

What the hell shirt brand are you buying?
OkeyDoke21
Are you sure you aren't buying hockey jerseys? I need to see these shirts. I also have ginormous arms (100th percentile) but haven't ever had this problem. It's actually the opposite for me. The sleeves are too tight; they wrinkle and ride up. It's been a while since I've shopped for button down - or up - short sleeve shirts, so maybe I'm just out of the loop. Is this is in the US?

MKnight82
Most of my short sleeve shirts I feel like the sleeves are too short. Unless you're a T Rex I find it hard to believe someone has an issue with shirts sleeves being too long.
MOSteelers56
Cut the sleeves off? Suns out, guns out.

The most recent offenders are the short sleeve Van Hussens.
NeptunePenguins
My arms aren't that much bigger than average, even since I've gained muscle, but I've rarely had that issue. Heck on one of my large shirts, my arms are basically as big as the sleeve, and it is when flexing, but I think the make of that shirt is just a little odd. I actually do see a little of what you're talking about, looking at some of their shirts. Especially their big and tall line. Could be the model they're using.
