With the freakish speed, power, and agility to play multiple positions, he should be a game-changer in the NFL. With the right coaching, Murphy could be an impact starter by the end of his rookie season and is sure to make a real difference to his team's defensive line. A no-brainer top-ten pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Murphy can also win going speed-to-power, with the leg drive to push blockers back. A savvy, versatile and instinctive edge rusher who did a little bit of everything, Murphy was especially effective getting to the quarterback. He has a lethal spin move and the pure speed to close quickly. Impressive athletic skills -- Made Bruce Feldman's 'Freaks List' at number 3. He wrote: "The 6-5, 275-pound junior is viewed by NFL scouts as a “significantly better player” than former Tiger Clelin Ferrell, who went fourth overall in the 2019 draft. Murphy bench-presses 405 pounds, power-cleans 335, and deadlifts 505. He also has vertical-jumped 35 inches, broad-jumped 10 feet and consistently clocked in the high 4.5s in the 40" Murphy has long arms and displays good power in his hands, which gives him the ability to slip off blocks. As a run defender, he has the speed to chase down ball carriers in pursuit. His spin move is already NFL-caliber, and he displays a very good motor. His hand use is excellent; he’s strong in the upper body and consistently swats away blockers. Possesses the length and power to ward off offensive tackles. #34. His upside is sky-high - rarely do we see a prospect with this combination of power, size, and speed. He's not perfect as a technician, but it's nothing that can't be cleaned up at the next level, and then there's the misdemeanor which can't be overlooked. Although at least to us - seemed to be more of a temporary aberration rather than an established pattern of behavior - so will unlikely affect his draft stock. Expect his stock to rise significantly after the combine where he should put on a show and catapult himself into the first day of the NFL draft. Smith has a chance to dominate in the NFL and become a long-time starter if placed in the right scheme. A massive, lane-clogging lineman, Smith brings an impressive, nice blend of power and quickness considering his size. Smith shows impressive get-off, often exploding off the line and getting into gaps before blockers can react. Crazy athletic skills -- Made Bruce Feldman's 'Freaks List' at number 1. He wrote: "The 6-foot-3, 337-pound senior has rare power and agility. Smith does 22 reps on the bench press, but that’s with 325 (not 225). He close-grip benched 550 pounds. He vertical-jumps 33 inches. He broad jumped 9-4 1/2. Smith, who had 37 tackles last season, has clocked a 4.41 shuttle time, which would’ve tied the best by any defensive tackle at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, and it would’ve been better than any defensive tackle weighing 310 pounds or more in the past decade. His 6.95 3-cone time would’ve been by far the fastest among defensive tackles in Indianapolis." Is easily big enough to play and hold well on the nose and has the athletic ability to rush the passer as a DT. Provides some secondary interior pass rush, getting most penetration when playing three-technique. He has the strong core and powerful hands to shed blockers, and he shows excellent instincts with the ability to quickly locate the ball. Has the lateral speed to chase down running backs and is a dominant run stopper who needs to be double-teamed. Amazing weight-room strength, which translates onto the field in terms of his anchor. Not just a run defender - has some well-established pass rush moves, and his powerful hands enable him to drive blockers backward. Smith plays with leverage and brings good power, especially in his lower body, consistently holding up against double teams in the run game. #42. Packers select: Sam LaPorta TE Iowa 6'3" 245 lbs. At his worst, he is used as a run blocker. He showcases above-average IQ which will translate well as he begins learning from NFL coaches. While he currently lacks in blocking technique, that is easily fixable, and he shows great willingness to learn. Being that he is one of the only bright spots in his offense, his stats are not reflective of his true talent. At his current draft value, consider him great value in the third round and beyond. He’s a reach in draft rounds one and two. Runs WR routes in addition to TE. His route tree is massive showcasing his football IQ. Very reliable target on passing downs. Very rarely drops a pass. Despite this Foskey is still a quality talent and an excellent pro prospect who has first-round skills, although due to the abundance of top-class edge rushers in this year's class will likely drop to the second day of the 2023 NFL draft. Super productive elite athlete with a freakish combination of size 258lbs, speed 4.58 (96th percentile) and explosion (showcased with a 96th percentile broad jump) Flashes strength at the point of attack with active, violent hand use. Forceful with his upper body to defeat blocks. Strong hustle player. Foskey has violent hands and consistently breaks away and disengages from blockers. He’s instinctive, reading, reacting and locating the ball quickly, and finishing plays as an authoritative, wrap-up tackler. Adds an extra dimension on special teams - has blocked multiple punts. He not only has long speed but an outstanding initial burst. Rarely gets beaten off the snap. Has outstanding bend around the edge and the ability to set the edge in the run game. He’s flexible enough to bend the edge, and he’s at his best when Foskey can use his quickness and change-of-direction abilities to counter back inside. Foskey has an excellent feel for working off blockers and knowing how and when to counter as the play goes on. Has impressive strong violent hands and uses them like clubs - technique is akin to a seasoned veteran. Plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. Keeps eyes in the backfield when inside; moves linemen to either side with strong hands. Gibbs can truly fit in with any offense in the NFL run heavy or pass heavy and be a coveted asset. His pass blocking is below average at best but not due to lack of effort. With the time he spends perfecting his running abilities and pass-catching it is easy to imagine that not much time remains to work on blocking. At a school like Alabama with such a deep roster, on pass blocking plays he is typically taken out of the formation for another player designed for pass blocking. He will not have this luxury on the NFL stage. Expect coaches to mold him into a formidable blocker during training camp and his first offseason. With a talented offensive coordinator and staff, Gibbs will become the “do it all player” of his offense. Best skill set of any RB in this class, will truly fit into any scheme. Great pass catcher with a more advanced route tree than would be expected of a RB. Strength to complement a power-back rushing attack if need be. Electric speed allowing him to easily burn tacklers on corners. Has the vision and confidence to hit holes without second thought. Will only be twenty-one years old by the time he is drafted leaving ample time for his prime years. Possess fluidity as a runner, can stop on a dime or turn on the jets at will. He's much more than just a twitchy athlete however as he's put up two impressive years at Michigan even against top competition while demonstrating excellent press/man skills. Turner is far from a finished product, as he's small for a corner and possesses only average overall length and catch radius as well as looking pretty raw when targeted in zone coverage. Despite these reservations, his upside is significant and can't be overlooked - he'll not last past the start of the third round of the 2023 NFL draft. Super athletic corner who was outstanding during his final two years at Michigan where he allowed a QB rating when targeted of 62.2. Can get up on the line of scrimmage and deliver a solid punch early in routes, then use that quickness to shadow, or back off and close quickly when the ball comes out. Turner can flip his hips and run, with good top-end speed and the length to make plays on the ball. Can run and blanket even the fastest receivers deep - possess great instincts along with timing. Made Bruce Feldman's Freak's List - ranked #31. He wrote, "He is the fastest guy on the Wolverines, having hit 23.07 mph on the GPS and run a 4.28 40 — out of a two-point stance, no less. His 3-cone time is even more stunning. He clocked a 6.29 this offseason, and strength coaches think he has a good shot at besting the combine record of 6.28, set in 2018 by Oklahoma’s Jordan Thomas. " Considering his somewhat slight frame he's excellent and sturdy tackler and consistently wraps up ball carriers. Has the fluidity, speed, and quick feet to come down and defend slot receivers in man coverage. Turner also does a nice job breaking down in space as a tackler after the catch. Has the change-of-direction ability to mirror underneath but did solid work out of press/man coverage. Does a good job getting his head around in time when playing with his back to the line of scrimmage. Has the ability to cover quickness underneath. Also, despite being an experienced player in overall playtime he's never been given a diverse set of routes to run and so he'll be going into the NFL as super raw in some ways.We expect Rice to represent value as a second or third-round prospect come the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s a fluid athlete with excellent short-area quickness; Rice should be able to create separation, and he has the straight-line speed to threaten down the seam. Rice is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands. A fluid mover capable of creating some separation over the middle of the field, he has the long arms and soft hands to provide a sizable catch radius. Shows good sense as a route runner and provides an enormous catch radius over the middle of the field. He has soft hands and uses his frame effectively to shield defenders, making him a major threat in the red zone. Has a tall frame and long arms, plus strong hands, giving him a huge catch radius. Although he is more of a possession target than a field stretcher, he fiercely competitive demeanor and run-after-catch ability make him a major threat in the middle of the field. Naturally explosive player with decent get-off speed. Balanced through contact and stout against double-teams. Tackles through the ball. Versatile and has the body type to play many roles. He’s best right now against the run, playing with a low pad level despite his relatively tall frame, and Incoom has the violent hands to win at the point of attack. He’s quick to react and locate the ball, and he shows enough speed to succeed in backside pursuit. Incoom plays with excellent balance and a strong, flexible core, rarely ending up on the ground. Possesses the length and power to ward off offensive tackles. A savvy, versatile and instinctive edge rusher who did a little bit of everything, he was especially effective getting to the quarterback. smetana34
Certainly optimistic with all those trades. I do like all the players you selected though
15412
I think a few of the earlier picks go sooner but forget about that. Love this draft. Not so sure the rookie QB would be on the 53 though.
ThatJerkDave
Come on, Leisher, you have at least two more in you! 😉
Packerraymond
At that point Douglas should trade us their 4,5,6 rounders too so he can go to the golf course on draft day Ditka style.
Sandy
I enjoyed this final mock of the season from you. I like a lot of the players taken or added. This seems like an all-in move for a SB. Financially I see no trouble with fitting all this under the salary cap, assuming that they're comfortable going into the season with a bit less in the piggy bank than usual. This looks like a contender in a weak NFC. On the flip side, I don't know if this aligns with the direction that management is planning on. They may be done adding just so they can save more space for next year. The Rodgers return seems a little rich by a few hundred draft points. I wouldn't mind it, of course. And the draft was a little defensive-rich at the top (hence why it feels kinda all-in - this is betting the future on this defense. Overall great job and I applaud the effort. I hope you do make one more but otherwise, enjoy the buildup to the draft!
Scoremore
Dude try to keep your trades somewhat realistic? We are going to get the Jet's top 3 picks and only kick back a couple of 3rd's? Always fun looking at a number of players but that's about it. Why don't you try it again without the crazy trades and see what you come up with. Add maybe #42 or #43 this year if a trade with the Jets goes down. I mean hey I'd love for things to go happen like this but it's pure fantasy land.
TheEagle
I stopped at the Jets trade. Totally unrealistic.
