I think I'm B.

Your first two picks in A are a lot better but I like B's overall start to finish better.

I've soured on Washington some, so taking him at 25 after the trade down would be disappointing, but still could be beneficial. Avila and Jones would be two future starters on the line hopefully. It's just more chances to hit.

B all day for me.

TE, OG and OT is the ideal scenario for a lot of reasons. Among those is resisting the urge of shiny things like Bijan Robinson and all of the CBs. Also filling 3 positions of need with young talented players is a big deal and will bode well to support Sam Howell.

Man these are some good mocks & tough choices but I think I gotta go B.

I see a starting TE, starting OG/C & a starting RT. A good 3rd/4th CB, good depth at RB who can replace McKissic, good depth at LB (who may develop into a starter), a project back up QB, a back up S to develop who can be a Buffalo nickel as he played some slot CB too & is a big hitter, great return man & another developmental DE.

This is it for me. And it very clearly makes the point of how important trading down can be, because I also like the top two picks in A better. But the extra pick volume allows for hitting more needs and minimizing the damage done by any whiffs.

I guess I would go with A simply because I hate the pick of Darnell Washington in the first in B. For a guy his size and with his athleticism he simply didn't produce and Bowers was clearly the alpha dog. Logan Paulsen didn't really speak to highly of him either after grading his film.

The bolded is clearly true, although in Washington’s defense, it would have been true of every single one of the TEs in this draft — and pretty much every TE in recent memory other than maybe Kyle Pitts. Through two seasons, Bowers is one of the best college players I’ve ever seen, regardless of position.

Also in defense of Washington, he’s on a different level than any other TE I’ve watched this year as a blocker. I think Mayer is overrated as a blocker, but I don’t think Washington is. He absolutely absorbs blitzers with his mass, and he’s one of the few TEs you see in this group who actually goes hunting their block, rather than just trying to obstruct the defender. He holds his blocks and controls these guys, even DEs. Big hands and long arms are a good combination for a blocker. The “awareness” doesn’t seem to be great, sometimes he’s just looking around for work, but in terms of the ability to block in-line and in space, he’s well beyond the rest for me.

All that said…

He definitely has this very “lumbering” trait to his movement. I know he’s pretty fast, because I’ve seen his times and all that, but he seems slow off the line and slow out of breaks. Diesel engine vibes, takes him a bit to get up to speed. Kind of see it show up in the relatively slow 10-yard split. And in terms of how they used him, he was never a focal point and it just feels like he rarely had to actually separate much.

It would be tough for me to take him over these guys (Mayer, Kincaid, LaPorta) who were consistently getting open despite being top priorities for opposing defenses.

Next draft is either Bowers or Harrison Jr for me unless we are bad enough to end up with Caleb Williams which we won't be.

We will find a way to finish in the middle of the pack again and miss playoffs. We will be out on all 3 of them and likely settle for an average tackle or edge…..

I would hate it if we took another WR #1 next year even though I love Harrison. Having Terry & then 2 first round WRs seems like overkill in one position & a foreseeable disaster when we’re trying to re-sign them in 4 or 5 years just like we are dealing with the DL right now. I’d like to see us take another position.
