The only issue right now is if you really want one of the top QB's you kind of need to hope that the Bears decide to keep Fields and shop the #1 pick. Because if they're going Williams then I think it's safe to assume the Commanders and Patriots take Maye/Daniels with the next two picks. Do you really want to trade up into the top 5 to take Penix or McCarthy?

Yep and then there's the possibility that O'Connell beats them out which would piss me off(can you trade up for one of these guys and then you realize that the guy you had is better than them which isn't a good thing).

I agree but if you're giving up multiple firsts it has to be for someone that projects as a franchise QB.

All 5 have Franchise QB potential. Two will likely be superstars, one will likely be good not great, one will likely underperform and be 16-22 range, and one will bust completely.

Which of the 5 names fall in what categories, we don’t know. You take a gamble, take a risk. I’m open to risk.

Do you not understand project QBs? Of course AOC would beat out McCarthy. McCarthy could still be a Top 5 QB superstar in year three.

he has completed eight of 17 passes for 87 yards. Not hating it's just the reality is this guy is not throwing the ball.

Once again, project QB. It. Does. Not. Matter. What. He. Looks. Like. Why is this not processing? You’re drafting traits. You’re drafting flashes. You’re drafting tools. Did you hate Allen and Love too?

You need elite tools if you're going to project though, McCarthy has good but not great tools.

Love’s tools weren’t elite. They were very very good tools though. McCarthy has good tools, and has flashes of throwing some of the most beautiful balls you’ll see in the sport.

Oh in that case just draft Bo Nix he has traits too. If It doesn't matter what they do on the field. We may be able to draft someone in the third or fourth round that has arm talent and his mobile. Believe it or not, not all of those guys go in the first round

Hell no. Bo Nix is a complete Derek Carr clone. They are the same QB. Nix will show flashes of a nice arm with a pretty throw, but is mentally limited, will have games where he scores 10 points or less stumped by the defense, affected by pressure, poor with processing speed, can’t throw with anticipation and the guy must be open, etc. McCarthy’s football IQ is literally top notch. Carr and Nix football IQ is meh. People on this sub thought Carr was way smarter than he actually is for years.

big arm and his mobile. project with traits. Mental isnt a part of the equation if youre going that route. Think about this anything you say about Bo Nix you could say about JJ McCarthy based on the criteria you gave.

Yes, mental is PART of the equation. Traits with intelligence. And someone who can throw with anticipation. Bo Nix cannot do that. That is NOT something you develop. Throwing with anticipation is like speed or arm power, you either have it or you don’t. Bo Nix doesn’t have it. Carr doesn’t have it.
