Saying that you like Coke better, publicly, working for Pepsi, directly effects their image and therefore, they have every right to let you go. I'm saying just because a player is accused of something doesn't mean they did it and in most cases now a days the players don't actually get convicted of anything but they still get suspended and lose game checks. That should not be allowed. sometimes those bringing accusations lie - especially about NFL players - in hopes that they can extort money or something else from them. The NFL shouldn't be suspending anyone until they are proven in the court of law to have done something wrong/illegal. The entire NFL system for suspending players is screwed up. It needs drastically changed and to go back to the way it was before Godell was commissioner. If a player was convicted of something then he's suspended but the NFL looks really bad in how they've mishandled other investigations and suspended players when they could never prove they did anything wrong. Employers can can fire you without cause as long as you can not prove they are discriminating against you! Im sure an elementary school teacher would be fired if they had a side job as a porn star!! We're talking about him being accused of something that no one has been able to prove he did yet. Sure, if Elliot was doing porn on the side and the NFL or the Cowboys didn't agree they could suspended him or cut him, but that's different, they'd have proof. In this case, there is no proof that I've seen that Elliot did what his accuser is saying he did. That is the same thing in the deflategate case and so many other cases where players get suspended because they are accused of something but then in court they don't get convicted of it. It's wrong. I'd also add that Elliot's employer actually isn't the NFL, it's the Dallas Cowboys. I think the players and owners alike have given way too much leighway to the league office to have a whole division that suspends these players and many times it's never proven they did anything wrong. The NFL league office just seems to be making up things as they go most of the time and stretching the truth - or basically lying - in order to prove a players guilt in a crime so they can suspended them. Again, you agree that an employee can be punished for things that are not criminal but then seem to want to go by criminal burden of proof when it suits you. Doesn't work that way. The NFL has a civil burden of proof (preponderance of evidence). And that is what they relied on. And the recent war of words between the NFL and NFLPA just ensured that Zeke's suspension remains at the full 6 games. And now I'm pulling for the owners not to give one inch. I think we all better prepare for a work stoppage of some kind when the CBA is up. The players are going to want this suspension system to drastically change, they're going to want more guaranteed contracts or fully guaranteed shorter contracts, expanded rosters, probably upgrades in safety of the equipment to help protect against concussions and that's not even counting what percentage the NFL income goes to the players in the next contract from the tv contract etc. The owners want more games, probably 18. Goddell already mentioned that they may be willing to shorten the preseason but I'm sure if the players do that, the owners/league are going to want to go to at least 17 games, if not 18.
