I'm just not worried about a bad series and the nba world is very reactionary. Though there is nothing reactionary about Jaylen Brown not being worth a supermax. I get Boston is in a weird spot but I have zero doubt they will regret it if they hand that deal out. I'm not disagreeing with you that it's not ideal, I don't think he's a supermax player but these situations come up every year in the NBA where a team's hand is forced.
