If Dallas is on board for Beasley + Bamba + #17 for Kyrie, would you do it? Do that and re-sign Reaves, Rui, and Schroeder and you have a solid rotation.

Can you re-sign Rui in this scenario? Because if so, this is a no-brainier. The Lakers were in every single game in the 4th quarter and could never match the big Nuggets runs. Getting Kyrie would help that. LeBron does not have the juice to takeover late in games anymore and he can't keep his energy for all four quarters. With Kyrie and the rest of the squad, he would be able to rest more and continue picking his spots like he did in the first two rounds of the playoffs. DLo was big against both Memphis/GS and the Lakers won anytime he scored 17+ points but with him being unplayable against the Nuggets, it hurt them big time.

Kyrie is a risk that is worth it for the Lakers IMO.

I'm not sure. It depends on how big each contract would be I guess, though there also may be some restrictions in the CBA/salary cap I'm not taking into account.

S&T for Kyrie would hard cap the Lakers at $169.5 million. That'd be very tough to keep Rui and Reaves and also bring in Kyrie. If each takes a discount, then it can happen. If they can get Kyrie for $35 (his max is $47 million) million, Reaves for $11 million (his max for the first year of any contract he signs is $11.9 million), and Rui for $14 million (not sure what he'll go for honestly), then it's doable. Throw in Vanderbilt and Christie, and that'd be sitting at almost $154 million. Not a lot of shooting there...again.

I mean Kyrie, Reaves and potentially Christie could be plus shooters. That's not bad all things considered. AD and Bron would need to get healthier and move like they did around December/January and if that happens, they can easily win it all. If not, then it's all a moot point. If you sign Kyrie, then you pretty much lose Rui.

In a heartbeat.  But A) Dallas won't agree to it and B) it can't really legally be done since the draft occurs before the FA.

It's incredibly difficult to get Kyrie Irving in a Laker uniform outside of via the MLE.  Either Kyrie would need to accept less than max or they'd need to use D'Angelo Russell in a dual S&T (either to Dallas or to another team) and waive Mo Bamba and decline the team option on Malik Beasley.

Mavs. Just think they have most money a team could offer and thats what Kai really wants. Lakers talk is a leverage play. Yes he probably still has dire to play with Bron but he always wants to get his paid his worth. This will probably be his last huge pay day at 31.

dont see LAL risk losing Rui and Reaves for Kai on a max deal anyway.

realistically the Mavericks.

Suns are in trouble financially after the new CBA. They can pay Durant/Booker. Ayton will be traded and CP3 I'm expecting to stay but that roster is going to be gutted otherwise. They wouldn't have done that KD trade had they known this was coming.

Lakers have a tough decision to make. As everyone said, you can't keep Rui/Reaves and get Kyrie. Theyre worth more to the team than what Kyrie can bring. Not sure how else they can improve the roster too much next season.

I don't understand why teams in big markets dont find ways to finesse the system to get them paid through outside ventures and take less money on the cap.
