Why are people pretending that Purdy is gonna play this year? He completely tore his UCL, that's 18 months usually.

There's a decent chance he's back by week one. That is what he's on track for so far, but he has to hit some other checkpoints first.

Unless there's a major setback, he'll almost certainly be back in the first month.

Which of these four will have the best year? You can rank them if you want too.

1. Purdy

2. Ridder

3. Pickett

4. Howell

Who has the best year or who is the best?

I would think that Purdy is the most likely to have the best year based on his situation, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be the best of the 4 quarterbacks.

I'm not sold on Purdy, but even if I were, who knows how he'll be coming off injury?  If I was guaranteed he'd be the same player, I'd probably put him 1 but between that and the film being out on him, I see him struggling.

I'd take Pickett over Ridder overall, but Ridder is in a much easier division and conference and is guaranteed a great running game to support him.

I was under the impression that he got Tommy John Surgery. I didn't know there were recent alternative methods to repair a UCL.

Timetable is different for NFL QBs than it is pitchers. Purdy was able to do a relatively new surgery (only 3rd nfl player to have it after Nick Mullens and Clayton Thorson as it's only been around for about a decade) to repair it rather than replace it.

That said, Jake Delhomme had full blown TJS in oct of 2007 and was playing in preseason games in august of 2008. He said after 6 months, he was able to throw without any issue and his arm felt better than ever. He didn't last long after that and other instances of TJS haven't faired all that well, but he was able to come back less than a year with no issues.

Because that still makes for a better season than the crap we'll get from the other three?

Let's break this down.

4) Brock Purdy - Has a UCL injury. would be shocked if he makes it back in 23. Tommy John surgery is no joke.

3) Howell - the least talented of the 4 and in the worst situation of the 4.

2) Pickett - He's going to be good. But I think his OL hurts him early in the year.

1) Ridder - He and Pickett are about even talent wise. The Falcons have bought into him and have surrounded him with a variety of weapons, are scheming to his strengths and weaknesses and have the best OL of the four groups to work with. He's in the best position to succeed of the group.

He's schedule to be back in week 1.

That's great and all. There's also the factor of he's the least talented QB on that roster and could very easily lose his job by the time he's medically cleared.
