NFL is investigating a Colts player (Isaiah Rodgers Sr) for betting on Colts games

If he really bet on colts games this is a far more serious situation then the others that have been busted for betting (none of them bet on their own games). In other sports we've seen betting on events you were personally involved in result in lifetime bans... Will be interesting to see how the NFL chooses to handle this.

His situation is more along the lines of a player like Josh Gordon who received repeated suspensions, he got an indefinite suspension and then have to apply for reinstatement every year until Goodell or whomever is moderating the meeting decided he’s met the requirements to return to the league. Like you said though, this could be a ban as well.

Per PFT

Here’s the key language from the 2022 gambling policy, a copy of which PFT has obtained: “Apparent or alleged violations of this Policy by NFL Personnel will continue to be decided by the Commissioner or his designee on a case-by-case basis. Violations of this Policy constitute conduct detrimental to the League and will subject the involved club and/or person(s) to appropriate disciplinary action by the Commissioner. Disciplinary action may include, without limitation, severe penalties up to and including a fine, termination of employment and/or banishment from the NFL for life.” (Emphasis added.)
