If he cannot pass his physical his 9 million Miami salary is guaranteed and they will not cut him.

At this moment he is not a free agent until 2019.

So he has to pass the medical before they can chose not to pick up the option?

They picked it up already.

There is talk they are going to release him for cap reasons and to release him they need him to pass a physical to unguaratee the option.

A couple guys I really like

Albert Wilson, knows the offense and can play the slot role.

Zach Fulton, not only a valuable OLmen for the Chiefs who plays C and OG, he knows the system, is from Chicago, and Heistand coached him in college.

Aaron Lynch and Dion Jordan would be interesting OLB reclamation projects.

I think getting Wilson would be essential with the amount of new guys we are going to have in that WR room when trying to install this offence.

I’m working on a mock right now and thinking maybe Carradine in a rotational depth player role. Kinda seeing him as a younger Unrein.

Chiefs are seemingly gonna be strapped for cash this offseason. Wilson was effective as their #2 and won’t break the bank. I think there’s a good chance they make a strong push to keep him.

The number of connections between Fulton and the Bears almost makes it his obvious destination. Hometown, college OL coach, former OC as the HC. Would be huge having a guy in front of Trubisky that has experience in the system.

I think Fulton makes a ton of sense.

Sign him and he immediately tries to push Sitton off the roster at LG

Provides experienced depth at C.

Covers you if Long is not ready for camp, you keep Sitton and Fulton goes to RG.

I like Fulton but I think we are in a position with HH on board to try and develop our own superstars upfront...I would prefer us to attack the OL through the draft unless a top top quality linemen becomes available.

We have to develop young guys there I would think. My concern is that, say we sign an OG or OT in FA, then draft one in round 1. After a year we’re probably looking to extend Whitehair and then we’re gonna have like $45M invested in the OL which seems like it’s gonna hinder us elsewhere. I think you need to have at least one of your starting OL on a non-1st round deal to make the group non-limiting to the overall team budget.

I wouldn't take a 1st round linemen and also wouldn't spend much in FA this year for that very fact...I also think when we pay Whitehair we let Long walk.

If Long fully recovers after all his surgeries (not a given, but we’ll know by then) why would we do that? You saw how much more effectively our team ran the ball when he was on the field this year, even at well less than 100%.
