Vikings to release RB Dalvin Cook

I can't say I'm surprised or disappointed by this. I was hoping we could get a trade for him and a later round pick in 2024 but so be it. He has tread on the tires for a team who needs help at RB and has cap space. But probably not the workhorse only RB anymore.

He still has the long breakaway speed, but he didn't get up to speed as quickly last season. He seemed really feast or famine with his runs.

Yes, that’s how it felt last year. Way too many times Cook was stopped for little or no gain. Honestly just don’t think he fit in well with the running scheme the Vikes we’re trying to implement. I think most sort of expected this move with the return of Mattison.

Cook is far superior to those guys though

and maybe he'll take a cheap deal for a chance at a Chip

Last year was the first season Cook's played more than 14 games.  So odds are he will continue to miss multiple games in the future.

And I don't know if we can say he's far superior to Pacheco, even when healthy.  Pacheco was running great, especially in the postseason (4.9 YPC in RS, 5.3 in PS), and he's younger.  He's one of my top backs going into the next season.
