Hard Knocks

Great. A distraction for a team installing a new O with a new QB. I’m going to watch, but I hope they embarrass the NFL by making it real boring. Maybe the NFL should listen to the teams and get rid of this crap. There is a reason they don’t want this.

the cameras are all there with or without Hard Knocks. Everything is filmed for 1 Jets Drive.

the only thing I am concerned about is that Hard knocks inevitably makes the coaching staff look vulnerable if not down right stupid at times.  I am most concerned how Hard Knocks affects Saleh. Not the players.   Hopefully he will be like Rex in that regard and soak it in.

Teams may not want it, but fans absolutely do.  And as long as fans want it, there's money to be made.

No doubt. But as a fan, I want wins more than reality TV. If this distraction costs even one game, it is not worth it. Of course we’ll never know.

I would not mind it as much if we were not fighting the clock regarding the post season. We probably have two years before I expect another “competitive” rebuild.  Let the NFL do it then when we have no expectations.

The claim that Hard Knocks makes it harder to make the playoffs is completely false.

Mathematically, participating in Hard Knocks has shown no meaningful impact on making the playoffs.  In the 18 seasons of Hard Knocks (2001, 2002, 2007-2022) 7 out of the 18 participating teams made the playoffs.  That's close to 39%

Except for 2022, each NFL year had 12 out of 32 teams making the playoffs.  That's just under 38%.

SO anyone thinking that Hard Knocks presents a disadvantage needs to prove it.  The math disagrees.

Eh, I think this is dependent on the local. NYC media already loves to take small issues and blow it was out of proportion at the determent of the team - this just gives them more opportunity to do so.

There is no analytical data supporting Hard Knocks and anything that happens on the field. I am just using common sense logic. Saleh did not want it. Why?  They have a whole new O with a new QB. Those extra cameras and the extra crew will be a distraction. Will it affect on field play, who knows?

I just want the Jets to be put into the best position to be ready for the season.  This does not help.

No team wanted it. It's probably a royal PIA. But it has zero impact on making playoffs.

My friend Mike DeVito told me when Brett Favre came into camp that year you had way more cameras and way more people in the stands wanting to be there. He said you could reall go no where with Brett there. Now you add Rodgers is in town then the Hard Knocks thing there will be a huge amount of people around. I think this team will be fine because most of this teams is a good group of vets that can handle this. I'm more scared of the coahes handling than players. I'm still not sold on Salah and he better make a deep playoff run or he could be out the door.

Hard Knocks is "COOL", and on many levels. Primarily we get to see as fans not so much the inner workings of what the team or coaching staff is trying to accomplish.

But we're taken into and on to the field, and for a brief time are translated and morphed into a player. How so? We are behind the lens looking out, observing, almost going through the camp. In a way not unlike having those special goggles on  and being translated into a game that is so real and engulfing we lose our sense of where we are.

I would like to see what takes place live in the NFL war room after the draft, and to see who was the top picks on the board, bring the fan into the war room without divulging the entirety of your process.

But it would be cool, seeing the discussions, the agreements, disagreements, owner involvement or not.

So Hard Knocks is cool, especially this season with so many story lines and unheralded rookies and un drafted players trying to make a difference.

Danny Woodhead should have been kept by the Jets, instead they cut him, he was an un drafted player who wound up killing us when he played for N.E.. to the tune of 104 yards and a 45-3 drubbing.

So Hard Knocks gives some insight to what can be, what should be, and what could be.
