I have been saying since we drafted him he's a receiver. He's being played out of position for god knows what reason? He's going to leave here, go elsewhere, be put to wide out and get 1K yards every year.

Yeah, I'm going W A Y back to Bobby Mitchell being put at "Flanker" ( R B in Cleveland ) when he was acquired from Cleveland by the Redskins.

H O F now !

Interesting how E B uses him . Fraid this is his last go 'round but I like him a lot-hoping for a breakout season .

I expect Bieniemy to move Gibby around more than than Scotty did but I don't see how given our depth at WR & the need for Gibby to be a pass-catching RB that we can expect him to be linning up at WR often.

Obviously at WR we have Terry, Jahan, Curtis & Dyami; there aren't many snaps available there for a hybrid RB/WR player. I expect Gibby to get as many snaps as he did last year at RB - maybe more - and to get more targets as a pass-catching RB on screens, option routes, check downs, and slants patterns as a running back when he starts off lined up ad a running back in the backfield & after the snap runs a slant route off tackle to get open vs a linebacker.

I agree.  I almost wonder if they should just cross train Samuels and Gibson for that gadget RB/WR position.

I think so, but I do think that Samuel remains more WR than RB while Gibby remains more RB than WR. One guy (Samuel) is a more established WR in the league than RB but he can be effective as a scat back/change of pace back type at times.

The other guy (Gibby) is more RB than WR in the league. The reason he got fewer carries last year is bc we drafted BRob but regardless Gibby still got 149 carries as a RB and his 46 receptions were mostly out of the backfield which I expect to continue this year.

I was right there with you to give up on the RB Experiment. Get him out in space where he’s most effective. I’ve been using the Percy Harvin usage but he would be harder to bring down. EB will make or break AG’s career here. He has the talent, just have to maximize that talent but not as the primary RB.

1,000 yards Like he did rushing in 2021? Just saying. In 2020 he had 11 rushing TDs & 4.7 ypc.

Just saying...

I will say in 2020 I thought when they drafted him they should use him at WR opposite Terry and they should've kept Peterson w/ McKissic & Gibson getting some rushes as a change of pace and to give Peterson a rest.

Now, it's 3 years later. They've drafted 2 WRs (Jahan & Dyami) and they sighed Curtis. Gibson isn't playing WR with that much talent at WR on this team. He’d be the #4 WR on our team now. He's going to be used as a RB & a pass-catching RB on screens, option routes, check downs, and slants patterns as a running back when he starts off lined up ad a running back in the backfield & after the snap runs a slant route off tackle to get open vs a linebacker.

His YPC have steadily gone down since his rookie year. The year he rushed for 1K and barely did so he ran for 4YPC and last year he ran for 3.7YPC. He does not have the vision a RB has when it comes to finding holes and cutback lanes. He's much better suited to wideout but we can continue forcing him to play a position he does not excel at because why not

Now that I can see, using him in space, using him on screens etc, out of the backfield but I don't think he's lining up at WR much given our depth there & he will be the change of pace back for BROB again.

I can see him having 150-200 carries & 50-75 receptions, but mostly out of the RB position.

That's bc our OL has steadily gotten worse not to mention our run blocking from the TE position when Logan has gotten hurt. Our interior OL was a mess last year & everyone knows it affected our QBS but it also affects the run game too.

I 100% agree Gibby doesn't have great RB vision bc he still new to the position but by now, it just doesn't make sense to move him to outside WR, he just wouldn't play there much at all bc we have Terry, Jahan, Curtis & Dyami.

In 2020 we both thought he should’ve been our #2 WR, that was 4 years ago & since we've drafted a WR in rounds 1 & 3 who are better downfield WRS & we signed Curtis.

I think the time has passed for Gibby to be anything close to a full-time Wr. At worst, he's going to be used as he was last year but I'm hoping he gets more touches as a receiver out of the backfield, on jet sweeps & as many rushes as last year as BRob’s backup as our change of pace back & our main pass receiving/screen RB we use.

I think Bieniemy is going to use Gibson a lot. IMO Bieniemy will use Gibby even more so than BROB in terms of overall touches.

150 rushes & 50-75 recs for Gibby this year IMO, in a bigger version of Chris Thompson/McKissic for us.

Sounds familiar.

The difference between us and the 49ers is we have Terry, Jahan, Curtis & Dyami. We have more WR talent than the 49ers so there's not many snaps available for Gibson out there short of some screens he’d run or something. But why run a WR screen with him when you can w/ Terry, Jahan & Curtis?

RB screen, yes w/ Gibson, WR screen? Not so sure.

I mean we all knew what we drafted but typical Turner as he did with Samuel in Carolina and here he doesn’t use guys to their game he makes them play his. I thought Gibson was a huge steal loved the pick when we made it because as I said at the time he’d look like BMarsh after the catch and can be used out the backfield to mix up how teams play him. Turner said yeahp I see you and 22 dive 🤣🤣🤣

Turner wasn't the OC in Carolina when Samuel was drafted.
