Lombardi Quest 2024

One week from today, the full squad of our Cleveland Browns hits the practice fields at the Greenbrier in West Virginia to begin "Lombardi Quest 2024".

Obviously, the biggest concern - as it is every year - is staying injury free. Now is the time for the veterans on this team to take the rookies and young bucks on this squad under their wings and let them know this is no longer as game they played as a youngster, it is your chosen career.

This can't be done verbally. This is done by showing these kids how you take care of your body by eating and sleeping right, how you make the decisions not to go clubbing so you are prepared the next day, how you conduct yourself in meetings, how you break film down, etc.....

I am so pumped for this season. I would be lying if I wasn't excited to see the new quick strike offense. But I think I am most excited about the defense.

I think we FINALLY have a leader that has a plan to dictate to the opposing offenses that - no, we won't let you run that play today...

And we have the players to do so. With substantial upgrades in the DL and the back end, I expect the linebackers to be freed up to have a big year.

And I think we have the tools in place to consistently get off the damn field on third down. No more 3rd and 8 means a free first down.

Have at it, guys.

It depends on if Stefanski continues to coach like a dweeb. We have no chance of that happens again.

I agree. But.....

A smart coach is one who evaluates his talent on hand and adjusts his system to maximize that talent. That is exactly what Stefanski has done this offseason.

If you go the other way and ask your players to execute your inflexible system blindly, regardless of their talent strengths, you are bound to fail. Of course then you blame the players because they didn't execute.

Seventeen kinds of stubborn and stupid.

To be fair Stefanski has been handed Baker Mayfield who is on his 4th team now but managed to win a playoff game, Jacoby Brissett who had his best season as a pro under Stefanski and a halfway melted version of Deshaun Watson mid-season.

There has been some bumps along the way but for the most part he has managed to turn some real meh QB situations into the best possible versions of themselves.

In his time as HC he has essentially been handed the 29th and 35th best QBs in the league. Let's see how this season goes with Watson fully there.

If Watson returns to form then we will be legit contenders.

If he picks up where he was last year, I’d go scorched earth on the entire front office and coaching staff.

If Watson doesn’t play like an uberstar, this team is officially crippled for the next 4 years at least.

I dont see a scenario where Watson's play falls of a cliff. Hes 27, younger than Baker Mayfield (as shocking as that is) and prior to his leave was playing at MVP level. Its not like hes a old vet getting traded to a different team like Manning/Stafford/Rodgers/Wilson.

Now I will say that he might not play like the version in 2020 who won the passing title with 4,800 yards and 450 rushing--but even if he plays at a slightly lower level with 3,800 - 4,000 yards passing and 350 rushing, the Browns are still going to be really good.

Yeah I don’t think he needs to be an MVP type QB for us to have success, at least not in 2023. There’s lots of talent surrounding him, just make the plays a guy like him should make and lean on our OL and run game as well.

exactly my thoughts. In Watsons worst season as a pro he went for 3,800pass/26TD | 415rush/7TDs. He made the Pro Bowl with those numbers. If he plays to those numbers next year AND he has the best RB in football behind him rushing for 1,500/12TD, the Browns are going to be right where they need to at the end of the year.

I do think however that it might take a few games for this offense to really hit its stride so I wouldn't be shocked if they looked out of sorts for the first 5-6 games of the year. New system going in, new weapons on offense learning it, Stef calling those type of plays for the first time, ect, ect. There is going to be some sort of break-in period that has to happen and really start clicking in the 2nd half.

Get a life he was handed a qb that put 40 on dallas

50 on Pittsburgh

Beat Burrows 3 wins no losses

Josh allen,kirk cousins, Daniel Jones

Then took a wr group of Higgins and landry to within a few points of beating kc.

He was handed a qb that never beat Lamar or Cincinnati head coach.

The last time leshaun won 10 games

His wr

Kenny still

Fuller

Duke Johnson backfield

Lamar running.

DeAndre Hopkins in his prime.

If you are going to post something be accurate

Last year leshaun was about the 28th ranked qb that we gave away 6 high draft picks plus 60,000,000 per year

Right now that trade is the worst in the history of the NFL.

Also Mayfield has played at a higher level in the playoffs then super bowl winning

Eli Manning and the 250,000,000.

It is going to be interesting but the problem facing the Browns was offense.

Are defense was even with kc.

Offense who is predicting

Dpj

Cooper

Njoku

To go even with kc or Cincinnati offense

One game at a time

We’ve got the talent

my concern is even if we make it to the playoffs this will be this groups first time with Deshaun in the post season. And how do we respond to adversity having not been there before.

but we can do it

Your saying we will beat Baltimore and Cincinnati this year 4 wins yes or no?
