So... um, is that his cap hit in '24? His guaranteed money?

This Monopoly money shenanigans is more confusing than figuring how much to tip your landlord.

There's also the matter of money -- $108.7 million over the next two years, including $101 million in guarantees, according to Roster Management. To facilitate the trade, Rodgers restructured his contract with the Packers, dropping his 2023 salary to $1.2 million and pushing the rest into 2024. For cap purposes, it has to be reworked again. The Jets inherited his entire contract; the Packers didn't eat any of it, as many speculated they would.

Doesn't changed his salary, it's all spreading the cap hit out.

Hasn't this been a thing for awhile? I swear I saw this on OverTheCap already a few months ago. Like, the $1M in 2023 and $107M in 2024 isn't new, I'm 99% sure, it happened before the trade. The Jets literally couldn't have acquired him otherwise. We've just been waiting to see how the Jets wind up structuring the $107M to not completely decimate their roster (probably signing bonuses, and probably void years.) But the link doesn't announce anything new there.

The details of the new deal are not yet known, including the important question of whether Rodgers decided to take less than he was due to make over the next two years.

So...this isn't actually news, yet?
