Acgott
Thomas was under contract through 2024, so this is way ahead of schedule, but fantastic news. That deal should even out in a few years with the cap continuing to rise. Scheon needs to stop making moves when I’m asleep. Hard catching up on the west coast. minutemancl
Hell yeah. Absolutely did not expect this to get done this year. I thought for sure this was a 2024 eventuality. I don't mind at all though; the earlier we were to sign him, the less he's going to ultimately cost. He's still 24, coming off an All-Pro season, and finally went through an offseason that didn't involve surgery for some lower body injury. He should be ready to have his best season yet this year. I love that Schoen locked up the 2 best, young, homegrown players on the team this offseason in Dex and AT.
Acgott
Thomas’s cap hit was at $10.2M, so that cap space is crucial for us. That put our space at around $8.8M, and probably won’t need to restructure Leonard into future years.

It's a shame, and we will need another quality DT to play with Dex and Nacho, but I can't see the Giants offering him a contract that keeps him here. Yeah, it be sad to lose him, but we only have so much money. Stranger things have happened and maybe he really likes Jersey lol.

It’s a pretty nice DT class next year imo… could draft his replacement early on
Giants4eva
Very smart move to get this kid a deal and get it done as fast as they did. Thomas is a total stud who will be all pro this year.
y*so*blu
A lot of money at first glance, the most ever guaranteed for an OT. But much like the Jones deal, it will seem like a bargain in a few years. Thomas says he wanted the security for his family and "the kids I don't have yet" (paraphrasing). On 7/26/2023 at 9:30 AM, Acgott said: Yeah, it be sad to lose him, but we only have so much money. We know he really likes playing with Dex, and if he feels like the team is a bona fide contender... well I won't get ahead of myself there.
