HuskieBear
about the going rate for TEs these days. He's still just turned 24 and has gotten better every year so far. I expect JJ to be the next extension guy with mooney/CC battling through the year for theirs

AZBearsFan
Deal puts him just behind Engram ($13.750M), Njoku ($13.688M) and Knox ($13M) annually, and with it being an extension the annual cap hits will be less than the $12.5M in new AAV. Feels about right to me.
GOGRIESE
Nice. Would like to get Mooney done at some point during camp too.

JibjeResearch
So with Kmet signing.... , whoever plays well between Mooney and Claypool will stay as a WR3 depending on the money. The fog is clearing out a little.
BeaReylo
I love it! This is the time to re-sign him and a solid price.
TankWilliams
People in NFL News are ragging on it, and yeah its probably one of those contracts that looks a little big now, but thats often the case. Market value is never capped at what yesterday's contracts were, so I'm good with it.

Kmet’s 50/544/7 on its own isn’t crazy impressive, but it was also in an offense that threw just 377 passes last year (22/game). The midpoint offenses in the league last year in terms of attempts (DEN and PIT were 16th and 17th in attempts) each attempted 571 passes. Nearly two hundred more attempts. Applying his same target share and success rate in an offense passing at even an average frequency Kmet’s 2022 numbers projected to 77/824/11 last year across 105 targets. For comparison, in 2022 Mark Andrews was 73/847/5 on 113 targets. Pat Freiermuth (was 63/732/2 on 98 targets. Those are similar TEs stylistically to Kmet. He was a really efficient passing game weapon for us last year despite being in an offense with little else that worked amongst its receivers.

Feels about right to me. As with all of these, Im much more interested in what the deal is for the first 3 years. (possibly even just the first 2) The $20m in New money this year almost puts us over the spending floor, but also might really lower what we are tied to later on. I also wonder if getting into camp, and maybe alittle push from JF got this done.

With this signing, the option is wide concerning Johnson, Mooney, Claypool, and Whitehair. This means that the WR3 and WR4 can be much cheaper. Now, we can pump Kmet to 75 catches and 1000 yards lolz ahahah🤣 and allow the next best men to come up to the WR3 and WR4. The offense will be great depending on Fields. And next year, the draft will be mostly defense if nobody steps up. The Pole team is doing a great job.... even if the Claypool experiment fails. His run blocking is a huge reason I am liking this. The Bears are still going to be run-first so he gets to hopefully continue to be a top 10 blocker and produce like last year. Poles seems shrewd and lauded Kmet, so I still would wager a penny he made it pretty team-friendly.
