Trentwannabe
Seems like a lot but I am sure they have outs in the contract. I assume he's still their number 2 target in the passing game this year.
Trojan
In three years Cole Kmet has 1399 yards and 9 TDs, last year Josh Jacobs had 2053 yards and 12 TDs. If Cole Kmet is worth 12.5 per, why not a 24 year old RB?

malibuspeedrace
This isn’t that far off from what Njoku got last year. banking on projections based on perceived talent starting to translate Edited July 26, 2023 by malibuspeedrace

It's harder to accumulate receiving yards than rushing yards, plus you're not paying for past production.
vegas492
Seems like an overpay. In looking at Robert Tonyan, who is also a Bear, I'll take 2020 and 2022 stats. 2021 is when Tonyan had a knee injury. 105 catches, 1056 yards. 13 TDs. In looking at Kmet, I'll take his last two years (omitting his rookie year). 110 catches, 1156 yards. 7 TDs. Tonyan is making 1 year, 2.65M from the Bears. Kmet is 4 year, 50 million extension. Course Tonyan had the knee injury, Kmet has been healthy. But still. At least the Bears had money to burn.
Ty21
I’m still a Kmet detractor. Not great at ND, average or a touch above in the nfl. $12.5/yr isnt horrible but I’m not excited about it either. Top ten paid TE now I think. It’s clear Fields likes him though and if he does continue to improve then whatever, but he just doesn’t wow me. Wyld Stallyns
Jimmy Graham choosing to return to New Orleans over Chicago has consequences. Damn.

Josh Jacobs had the 45th most rushing yards all time last year. When you remove HOF players (Im including AP as HOF but adding no one else) from that list it's top 20 all time. He'd be <29 by the time he played out an extension. The QB is Jimmy G who isn't going to carry the offense. Jacobs is basically the only one on the roster drafted by the team worth extending that hasn't been extended already, sort of similar to the Bears in that way like homegrown retained talent is hard to come by. Last year JJ had 400 receiving yards to Kmets 544. The entire Raiders offense is built around Jacobs we cut a passing QB for a game manager who relies on low turnovers and a strong run game. Jacobs replacement has 70 career rushing yards and a 4.1 APC in the same offense.
