I think not playing Watson a lot more last preseason was a mistake. When someone misses that much time they need as many reps as possible. I’d play him a bunch this week. Even if it’s just a bunch of drop backs and no rpos. Just give him live reps. Practice isn’t enough.

And you'd be the first to call Stefanski an idiot for playing Watson if he were to get injured.

The Browns should win this pretty easily after all we have the best defensive line according to pff.

A top 5 qb according to this board.

The best defensive secondary

A new defensive coordinator

We're playing are starters.

Yeah I feel like this decision is always second guessed after the fact and based on results instead of process.

Personally I’d rather he sit. It 6 games least season, practices last season, a full off-season and this training camp can’t knock the rust off I’m not sure a few series in the preseason will.

Normally yes but they are running a new offense with new plays this year compared to the last 4 with Stefanski, along with a few new receiver with Tillman/Moore. Gotta take advantage of every 'game simulation' they can possibly get.

Looking how hard/important the first 5 games of the year are, they absolutly cannot come out flat or still 'getting on the same page'. They have to be as close as possible to midseason form week 1.  All of the live game reps possible please.

new offense?  I mean, we have the exact same talent at literally every starting position paired with the same guy calling plays. Are they adding new stuff?  I’d sure as hell hope so, but what offense doesn’t?

new offense + new talent is an absurd argument lol

When is this ever not the case?  Like what year specifically did you think we could **** the bed for the first month plus and still have high hopes?

That’s fine, I get it.  My only issue is when those same people want to then pretend Stefanski is a moron for playing him if Watson gets hurt.

There has been news all summer that the offense they are going to run this year is going to look very different from years past, not just added plays or a package. Moreso they are going to go from under center to working far more spread/pistol formations to maximize what Watson does well, with actual designed QB scramble/runs. Stuff that we frankly just didnt run with Baker/Jacoby that often.

My point is that its a lot easier to not **** the bed in the first month if we were able to to build up some momentum with a few easy opponents before facing teams with the 2nd and 3rd best odds to win the SuperBowl + your 2 divisional rivals who are never bad

I am one of the very few posters who are Stefanski advocates so no worries from me backtracking if anybody gets injured. Its the inherent risk you run, but its a necessary risk you have to take. You cant be so scared to play players to the point in which they need until week 3 to finally get going and in rhythm because you sat them the entire preseason.
