brownie man
With training camp going on right now I was just seeing an Amari Cooper highlight, and I'm just like what a great trade that was for us. Getting Amari for a 5th rounder. That trade as already been worth the draft capital within one season. And it got me thinking about what are some of the other best trades of all time that might've been under the radar or forgotten. The Browns trade getting Brock Osweiler for a 2nd was also one of my Browns few great trades. That second rounder turned into Nick Chubb. So doing that NBA type trade by taking on a bad contract really made an impact for us. So yeah what are some other forgotten trades where a team got great value? nagahide13
For the Lions, the best in my memory is trading Roy Williams (WR) + 7th to Dallas for a 1,3,6. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/trade-review-cowboys-whiff-on-roy-williams-is-teams-all-time-worst-deal Edited August 20, 2023 by nagahide13
hburn
Pretty much any time Seattle trades with the broncos is been phenomenal, the Russ trade, trading our 2nd round pick for a future first who turned into earl Thomas and even last draft trading number 83 for 108 and a future 3rd rounder.

Jakuvious
Chiefs honestly have a ton of contenders over the years. Good mix of draft day trades, trading for guys, trading guys away, etc. Obvious one that stands out is that Mahomes was a trade up on draft day with the Bills. But Tony Gonzalez was also a draft day trade up that netted us an all-time great. The Vermeil years were full of trades for veteran players, not all that turned out great, but some that were foundational for those 2000s offenses. Willie Roaf from the Saints, Trent Green from the Rams, etc. Had some really good trades that would've seemed inconsequential at the time. We sent Javier Arenas to the Cardinals for Anthony Sherman, who was an excellent FB for almost a decade for us. We got Charvarius Ward from the Cowboys for Parker Ehlinger, a backup OL that never played a snap for Dallas. Both Alex Smith trades were honestly excellent for the team. Acquiring him brought excellent stability to the team. He was never great, but adding him and Reid in the same offseason was a ridiculous turnaround after being the worst team in football in 2012. And then trading him away got us Kendall Fuller who was a key piece to the 2019 superbowl run, and let us move on to Mahomes, obviously. And these weren't slam dunks, but moving on from guys like Marcus Peters and Tyreek Hill before their paydays wound up working out well in the end. Not clear cut slam dunks from a personnel perspective, but it's hard to argue with the results of the team's that followed those decisions. Though only one year post-Hill so far, obviously.

scar988
In 2006, the Falcons traded No. 15 overall to the Broncos to get No. 29 overall and a 3 in 2006 and a 4 in 2007. Then they got John Abraham from the Jets for No. 29 overall. in the end, the Jets got C Nick Mangold. The Broncos got better positioning to trade up for Jay Cutler. and the Falcons got 7 years of John Abraham, and some picks used to trade up for better positioning with Chris Houston and Jimmy Williams. FWIW, Atlanta got a guy who averaged 9.5 sacks, 3 PDs and 3.5 FFs a year despite missing the first half season in Atlanta One of the rare trades where everyone won the trade and got what they needed at the time.
Forge
The niners have had a decent number of draft day trades that resulted in getting great players. The niners made one of the greatest trade ups ever to land Jerry Rice, trading 28 + 56 + 84 for #16 and #75. The niners traded a third round pick to the Rams for two 4ths in the 1980s and those picks ended up being Steve Wallace and Charles Haley. They paid a heavy price for Joe Staley (#7 overall), but that 2008 draft was kind of rough in that 5-10 area and it's hard to argue with the niners side getting a 10+ year starting left tackle who likely ends up in the "Hall of very good". They traded down and picked Bowman. Similarly, they traded down one spot with the bears in 2017. One of the picks the niners acquired in that deal was used on Fred Warner. When it comes to players, obviously Steve Young is one of the biggest moves in history. They also acquired Fred Dean (from the Chargers) and he's a 49er hof guy. The cost was high - they swapped firsts (the niners pick was #5) and the niners also gave up a second. The fun offshoot to the dean trade was that after swapping the first round picks, the niners had the pick at #22. The chargers wanted to move back into the first and traded for their original pick back. They traded two seconds to the niners for that first (one of the seconds being their own, the other the one they had acquirred from the niners in the Dean tradre). The first of those seconds was traded to the Rams for Wendell Tyler and a third. Tyler led the team in rushing in 84 when they won the Super bowl with 1200 yards and played three+ seasons with the niners. The other second round pick from the chargers was used on Roger Craig

ET80
I can only think of bad ones... Maybe Deshaun Watson for a bunch of FRPs given his legal situation at the time? Outside of that, there's a lot of bad trades in Texans history.
