Isaiah Simmons is being traded from the Cardinals to the NY Giants for a seventh-round pick

If Simmons is still in the league by 2027 while still remaining on defense, I’ll be shocked.

Dude is extremely stiff in his lower body which makes his hip-fluidity nonexistent. He cannot cover anyone that isn’t running a vertical route.

Can’t be an EDGE cause of inexperience/weak in the upper body.

He’s a decent blitzer, but it stops there.

I mean he's never lived up to the draft status, but a 7th? He's got more value than that, even if he's relegated to a part time or back-up role.

Unless Arizona was up agiant the cap, or he was a cancer (which I've never heard/seen) I don't see why you don't just let him play out the year then move on.

Oooo this is fun. I LOVED him pre-draft. I remember trying to convince myself that there was value in taking him at 4, despite the huge, glaring need at LT.

The fit is interesting for sure; there is an entirely open competition for LB2 right now. I'd gladly take a shot at his talents for a 7th.

I’d call this trade a business decision. Isaiah makes a lot of those…

He wasn’t really going to play for us. Our two best players on D are safeties and that’s how the new coaching staff saw him. I’ll take the 7th honestly. I’d rather watch a player who just genuinely sucks than one who could make the plays but doesn’t try

Can't say I've watched much of him since he was drafted but looks to me statistically he's had a solid three seasons in Arizona. He's only missed one game, put up 100 tot tackles last two seasons, 7.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 picks. For a 7th rounder it's a nice add

For a 7th that seems good for the Giants. Simmons just is the classic position-less player who isn’t good enough at anything to stick anywhere. He is probably used best as a third safety/lb that can play in the box and run upfield. If he is willing to play STs I could see him being a role player in the league. I don’t see him being a full time player going forward though. Too many holes in his game to rely on consistently.
