The Road to 53: The Birds cut the dead weight

Is it really that hard to find a punter?

No. That’s why we cut our only one. Replacement level punting from Siposs is street value. Anybody cut today is probably better. Now it’s just GMs jockeying to get value somehow. Those guys keeping 2 punters are stupid. The smart move, if you’re punter stinks, is to cut him and protect a fringe positional guy you want to keep in your organization, let the other GMs make their moves and then sign your punter after they’ve compiled their 53.

I'm not sure what was worse for the Vikings: the Bradford trade or the Reagor trade.

I hate when my team trades with Philly lol. Your GM is just brilliant.

At least the JJ dunk moment was a bright spot. Though I’m happy how it turned out with Devonta and AJ in the long run.

It's really just merit based but through the lens of the scheme.
They want a lot of DBs and Linemen on the field cause that's where the talent is, partly because that's where they wanted to build.

Why keep a guy you could easily replace at LB, when it'd cost your depth at the more important positions.

They do really like Ellis, had a good summer by all accounts.m And Cunningham played best of the vet adds.

Well if they want a lot of DL why they cut Tarron Jackson?  Do you feel they do not need another edge with Barnett coming off injury, Reddick/Nolan Smith currently hurt and Brandon Graham not getting any younger.  I was surprised they cut Jackson.  Sure cut a LB I guess they do not value them but cut an edge guy, guess they think all their edge players will stay perfectly healthy all year.

It's a numbers game, curious who would of of Cut to keep him?

Both Smith/Reddick will be fine. Even if it means week 1 is lost which I highly doubt!

I suppose if they consider Nolan Smith an edge pass rusher but honestly he never was that in college and never had high sack numbers in college either.

I would have cut Ringo or Goodrich.  Having Maddox, Jobe and Ricks seems good enough, well that would be four backup corners and get rid of Ringo or Goodrich, probably Goodrich.

I just do not think those edge guys will all be totally healthy all year long.  Guess if Tarron Jackson is on the practice squad it is no big deal.
