SmittyBacall
A few days old, but worth reporting. As someone who just drafted him early in fantasy, color me worried. This feels like something that will linger all year and if the Rams are going to be as disappointing as I think they'll be, I can see them shutting him down early as a precaution. How do we see this playing out? Edited September 5, 2023 by SmittyBacall
LeotheLion
It's definitely concerning. I think it is setting up that he misses the first 2-3 weeks of the year. For fantasy, Van Jefferson is a good handcuff for any Kupp owner. Can likely get him in the last round or off waivers but he becomes the top target in an offense that likely is going to have to pass to match opposing offenses. TheKillerNacho
He had a truly special season in 2021, but his history of being unable to stay healthy before or since should be concerning for the Rams and their fans.
nagahide13
Hot take; in a vaccuum Kupp has never even been a top 10 receiver. Take away 2021 and he's Robert Woods.

I get that having won a Super Bowl in 2021, only making the Super Bowl in 2023 is disappointing. But I think most squads would consider that a great year. So I expect Kupp will eventually play. 16 minutes ago, nagahide13 said: Hot take; in a vaccuum Kupp has never even been a top 10 receiver. Take away 2021 and he's Robert Woods. He was on pace for 133 catches, 1534 receiving yards, and 11 receiving TDs in 2022. He had 94 receptions, 1100+ yards, and 10 TDs in 2019. And before getting injured in 2018, he was on pace for a huge year (96 catches, 1402 receiving yards, and 16 receiving TDs). Kupp's issue has always been durability, not play. AkronsWitness
Cant help but wonder if this is the beginning of the inevitable decline for Kupp. At least they have their FRP next year Edited September 5, 2023 by AkronsWitness

A plethora of equally stupid extrapolations can be made about players' stats midseason. 7000 yard passing seasons, 3000 receiving season, etc. Being on pace means nothing.

The BILLievers
Out for Sunday and McVay wouldn't rule out putting Kupp on the IR. Damn.

AZ_Eaglesfan
Ya this is a disaster for the Rams. The one hope they have this year is Stafford to Kupp keeping them in games.... without that they are possibly a bottom 5 team.
LeotheLion
Yeah, none of this is surprising for anyone that has followed the team. We were going to be lucky to be anything but 1-3 through 4 games with Kupp. The only somewhat bright spot is this isn't the worst time of the year schedule wise to miss games. Okay sounds good. Well just use his per game stats instead. Jerry Rice (SF only to get rid of his latter years) - 5.38/80.9/.74 Moss (Minnesota which was higher than his averages in NE except for TDs) - 5.19/82.4/.81 Kupp - 6.35/79.1/.57 Owens - 4.92/72.8/.70 Harrison - 5.8/76.7/.67 Megatron - 5.41/86.1/.61 Larry Fitz - 5.44/66.5/.46 Tried to remove the old unproductive seasons for each. Couldn't for Fitz, but even removing his last three years he's below Kupp across the board. Like Jrry pointed out - the games he missed likely would have RAISED these averages given how he was playing at the time. Either way though, saying he was like Robert Woods minus his one great year is a bad take.
