Given the current state of NFL, I'm betting he doesn't meet them. Would guess vast majority don't like him.

It seems like there would be exactly one team that would care about that.
Sugashane
Am I the only one excited by this extension?!?! No, I'm not. Because this isn't exciting at all. This sucks.
y*so*blu
This man is almost universally derided. Did Rozelle or Tagliabue ever get that kind of reaction? Just curious.

Just curious. No, but today is a much different time. There were no 24 hour sports news stations or social media. Fans didn't know about fines that players received, suspensions, drug tests, CBA negotiations, etc. They watched on Sundays and read what the local beat writer had to say about the game. I know a lot of old school fans that think Tagliabue was the greatest thing ever, but could you imagine how his cover up of the concussion studies and data would have played out had there been today's (social) media? He would have been crucified and rightfully so.

Rozelle dealt with the steroid era, and Tagliabue was caught in the middle of the start of the concussion discussions but the there was little to no information quite yet on their impact. But to answer your question, both men were competent and revered.

Large sentiment that there was new blood needed after the ugly CBA negotiations and revenue sharing disputes got ugly. Ultimately he's remembered far more fondly than Goodell but that has a lot to do with the changing of times and coverage.
