Overview:
We look to extend our win streak against a Baltimore team that has the advantage of mystery game planning with a talented roster. We will come out playing our ball and that will take care of the rest.

Offense:

3 Wide (60%), 2RB/1TE (20%), 4 Wide (20%)

We will look to a 55/45 Pass/Run balance this week. We saw what a healthy Burrow can do and we will look to have a higher pass output this week while we still rely on our talented backfield to hit home runs as well as wear down this defense.

Run Game:
We look to our zone rushing attack to provide us with multiple running lanes for our backs to pick and hit as well as some gap blocking plays and counters. Breece is a home run hitter and he just needs a crease. We will incorporate inside and outside zone again. We will utilize the gap blocking plays to create chunk plays inside as well as target some off tackle plays. After we have established the zone early we will run some counters to provide us opportunities to attack aggressive overflow attempting to stop our zone attack. Our back split this week will be 65/35 Breece/JT.

Combo Routes:
This is our bread and butter because it allows us to pick apart weaknesses across the defense on any given passing play. Burrow is back healthy and we will let him dissect the Baltimore defense utilizing his weapons. Chase as our X again will attack all levels throughout the game even seeing some screens. Hollywood on the outside at the Z where we really like getting him in motion and getting him easy separation to utilize his speed underneath as well as challenging the defense deep. Josh “First” Downs will be a possession player out of the slot but we will also allow him to attack the defense at deeper depth more in this one with flag routes and deep crossers. Njoku will run a variation of route depths but we will mostly depend on him to be a safety net for Burrow primarily in the intermediate so if they are playing safety coverage on him we will have more throwing lanes open up behind him. In 4 Wide we will put Jamo outside and move Hollywood in the slot.

PA, RPO, Back Routes:
We will incorporate some PA and RPO still but it will be less in this one. We believe we can beat this defense using our combo routes primarily but we will still look for them to be over aggressive against our run and PA off of it. Our Backs will see a variety of routes in the flats with some swings and a couple screens. We will use our backs often to help chip before releasing as well as Njoku if Burns is on his side before he releases as well. This chipping allows Burrow to still target these players underneath as needed if our deeper routes carry heavy coverage deep. Breece out of 2RB will see some snaps motioned out to the slot or even some snaps lined up out wide in twins if we are seeing heavy man to draw a box defender out with him to allow Burrow to either audible to run with for Taylor/Spears or target Breece against that mismatch outside.

Defense:

•Base Nickel against 3 Wide

•Buffalo Nickel against 2TE

•Dime against traditional 4 Wide and Empty

•4-3 against 2RB/1TE

•5-2 against Heavy extra OL sets or any 3 Tight jumbo package.

Baltimore has a solid offense and with Lamar or Purdy at the helm they have the potential to be potent. We will rush four looking to close in the pocket, spy Lamar and play heavy zone. If Purdy gets the start we won’t have much change other than the spy will drop/blitz instead.

Pass Rush:
We look to get home with four rushers again predominantly. We will have a couple blitzes from a backer in zone. We will limit stunts and twists this week as we want to ensure we aren’t leaving running lanes for Lamar and want to contain him in the pocket collapsing it upon him. JOK will line up to Hutchinson’s side to give a little extra second level speed for tracking Lamar runs. Micah we entrust with his speed to contain his edge and the speed of our second level to provide support. Oliver and Vea get the start with Vea collapsing the pocket as our Nose and Oliver penetrating as a 3T. We will allow Oliver some stand up reps in clear passing situations as well as our edges predominantly in stand up edge stances allowing them quick ability to change directions. We will utilize David Long as our Lamar spy in the case Lamar is able to slip free from our vaunted pass rush. Reddick and Highsmith will see reps throughout the game as well as rotate on the edge in clear passing situations as Hutch slides inside.

Coverage:
Predominately Cover 3 with some Cover 2 mixed in. Hufanga will play primarily in the box but bail to his second half in Cover 2. When we are in man we will be in Single High, JOK has TE if lined to Hutch’s side, RB if not. If RB motions out we will have to have JOK trail the motion. Hufanga has RB/TE whichever JOK does not have. We will look to match Surtain across Mike Evans in all coverages. We will be very disciplined in our technique and we look to provide run support with our back half if Lamar breaks free since we will be predominantly in zone. We have a symbiotic relationship with our pass rush as we have the secondary to help get coverage sacks as well as the pass rush to speed up throws and disrupt timing. In Buffalo Nickel we bring in Kam Curl for Izien and in Dime we bring in Paulson Adebo for JOK.

Run Defense:
It is imperative we do not let Lamar break runs off on us. It’s inevitable at times he will get some yardage but we have to limit the impact he has as their best rushing threat. We will be gap disciplined and look to keep our Dline fresh to be most effective against Lamar. Ideally we look to have Vita play 60% of snaps at NT with Jordan Davis the other 40% and Oliver and Reed will be a 65/35 split at 3T. In clear passing situations however we will be resting a DT with Hutch moving inside so our interior rotation will be even more fresh. With Hufanga playing primarily in the box this will help hunt down any run plays by the backs or Lamar. In our 4-3 Kwon Alexander plays WLB.
