This is really just the class I need. Look at all the big guys in this class. I'll touch on them more towards the draft when I have a chance to look at everyone, but there is some great size, even outside the top 5. I have stockpiled 2022 picks, time to make a trade.

This is a weird one. I am getting Montreal's 1st this year, which should be top 10. My pick should be just outside the top 10, or in the middle of the round. I need to grab one or two of these big guys coming up this year.

Gotta get Gordon Dean, even if he's only B+ potential.  You need that size underneath.

Can any of the PFs shoot?

#1 overall prosspect is a classic faceup 4. Dawson is the apple of my eye. A+ midrange, and C 3s.

Dean us purely a rebounder for a couple years. Rolando Dun, the 6'9 PF, has A- inside D and B perimeter. I could use any of those 4 guys.

So I had a pretty crappy 2nd half of the year and ended up with the 8th worst record in the NBA. Baby steps.

However Montreal had an even worse 2nd half. They were sitting at around my spot. and went on a 13 game losing streak and ended up with the 2nd worst record, and I have their pick. That's what you get for stealing my center last year you french ****s.

Here are the awards, and yes, the All Defensive team is the exact same for a 3rd year in a row.

Clippers update

The Clippers ended with the worst record in the league. They are processing better than I am.... They had: 2019 #2, #3, #9 picks.

The Warriors beat the Cavs in the Finals. Kevin Durant was the Finals MVP... that sounds familiar. Golden State was up 3-1 and won in 7..

The Clippers, sadly for them, traded their 1st round pick this year, UNPROTECTED. To who else...... the Celtics. God damnit.

Notable Retirements

Dwayne Wade - HOF

Draft Lottery

1. Celtics via LAC
2. Sonics via MON
3. Magic via DAL
4. Mavs via MIA
5. Nets
8. Sonics

I should end up with two top 10 picks again, and this is another great class to have it. I need a couple big men to develop.

My pick held at 8, damn. The Hawks have jumped into the top 3! The draw at 3 is... the Celtics! #2 is... the Hawks! Which means I have won back to back lotteries at #2.... that feels kinda cheap lol

2020 Team Stats

I didn't do this before because I didn't have consistency really at any position.

Season Stats
Position Player Points Reb Ast Stl Blk
SF Gus Sharp 14.4 4.7 1.5 0.6 0.4
SF Brett Gentry 13.0 4.5 0.9 0.9 0.4
PG Mike Peterson 12.0 2.9 3.9 1.3 0.4
SG Dedric Bailey 10.5 2.3 2.2 1.0 0.7

PG Artem Gornev 9.0 2.3 2.6 1.1 0.8
PF Markieff Morris 8.5 4.4 1.7 0.5 0.3

Would have obviously liked to see Peterson have a better year, but the team around him is weak af.

2020 NBA Draft

Let's take another look at the top prospects.

Top 10 Prospects
Pos. Name Age Ht Wt WS School Ovr Pot.
1 PF Jon Burton 19 6'11 272 7'3 Villanova 75 B+
2 PF Ulf Eklund 22 6'10 245 7'0 Sweden 75 A+
3 SG Harry Young 20 6'5 210 6'6 Virginia Tech 74 B-
4 PG Davor Nevsky (1) 22 6'1 167 6'4 Russia 74 A-
5 PF Rolando Dunn 22 6'8 209 6'9 Misissippi State 75 B
6 SG Abe Tavares 20 6'5 203 7'0 Penn State 74 A-
7 PG Ike Akwuegbu 19 5'8 163 5'10 Nigeria 72 B+
8 PG Arthur Elliot 22 6'3 192 6'5 DePaul 73 A
9 SF Luis Patton 22 6'7 214 6'10 Penn State 70 A
10 C Murray Spencer 22 6'10 254 7'0 South Carolina 73 B+
11 C Gordon Dean 20 7'2 259 7'6 Texas 75 B+
12 PF Lee Dawson 21 6'10 229 7'5 Clemson 72 A-

There are a lot of guys I like and I'm not really sure what direction I'm going to go in. Let's break down the bigs. The projected draft order has shifted slightly, but not significantly. I will list in order of who I think will go first. This is a really big draft for me, grabbing 2 more starters and basically filling my team out. I have a feeling I won't have Gentry past this year. I don't have a pure shooter on my team, and by the time I am actually playing, I really want that piece.

PF Ulf Eklund 22 6'10 245 7'0 Sweden 75 A+

Ulf has okay size and is a defensive prospect with very mediocre offensive ability. Ulf's potential will make him the top prospect on the board - he's the only A+. He is a statue, 63 speed. But he is pretty strong. If he was a few inches taller I would consider him, but 6'10 isn't big enough as a center for me, and he doesn't have the shooting I want from my 4.

PF Jon Burton 19 6'11 272 7'3 Villanova 75 B+

Jon is everything I look for in a 4, including a bit of speed. 81 is more than enough for a 4. Hustle is 94. Inside, Mid, and 3 are all B-. Potential B+ and you have the feeling it will be higher. He's only 20 years old. So what's holding me back? I really ned a paint protector, and I have a feeling that the ones I want, Dean and Dunn, won't make it to 8. This may be the last year in a while I pick inside the top 10, so can I pass on a big like that? There is always the potential of grabbing a faceup 4 in the teens who can develop. There's also the Gentry problem, what the heck do I do with him?

PF Rolando Dunn 22 6'8 209 6'9 Misissippi State 75 B

Doesn't have great size, but would turn into an elite interior defender at the 4 and I would develop his offense. Not really the way I want to go, but I need some interior presence. A- interior D and B perimeter... and I just noticed he has 58 speed. Ok next

C Murray Spencer 22 6'10 254 7'0 South Carolina 73 B+

6'10 center, meh. 7 wingspan, meh. He's a bad rebounder, and he is a statue. Nah

C Gordon Dean 20 7'2 259 7'6 Texas 75 B+

This is the guy I would like to leave the draft with, but I can't see myself taking him at 1. He comes in as an established rebounder, decent block shotter. He needs work on offense and defense, but he has the most important thing for a center - size. Only 20 years old.

PF Lee Dawson 21 6'10 229 7'5 Clemson 72 A-

Here is the other guy I could see myself drafting if Dean goes before 8. He is only 6'10, but he has a monstrous wingspan at 7'6, the same as Dean. He is actually better across the board than Dean, except rebounding. I am actually really re-thinking if I wouldn't rather trade down and grab this guy. He is slower, but will be a better inside and mid range scorer than Burton. They are very similar on D, but the wingspan gives Lee the advantage. I could see myself playing Lee at center too if I grab Burton and Dean doesn't make it down to 8.

Weak class to have #1.  You gonna trade down?

I am deciding if I want to risk that. Maybe moving down to 3-5, grabbing my paint protector, and trading back into next year's draft. Not sure yet. Burton is pretty tempting, but overall is pretty weak for a 1st overall pick.

This was offered in trade finder during the draft. I might be taking a loss draft value wise, but the Monsters are bad and there isn't a player in this draft that will make an immediate impact. I don't like giving them a future great player, but I don't like thee guys enough to spend a 1st overall pick on them. The Monsters have 3 1st round picks in 2022 and 3 in 2023 somehow, so they have tons of picks and could afford to lose these, I guess.

I now pick at 8 this year, and thats it. I hope Dean or Dawson make it there

With pick 1, the Monsters take Eklund. Probably the right choice. 76 overall with A+ potential. I'm happy they didnt take Burton.

Atlanta takes Tavares at 2. The Celtics take Burton. Damn. IMO the best player in the draft, and he should give them some immediate offense. 77 overall.

Dunn goes 4 to the Magic, he will be an elite defender soon. Nevksy, the Russian, goes 5th. 2 picks to go and both my guys are still there...

The Kings trade up to 6 to grab.... PG Elliot! Awesome, that means I will get one of the two I wanted.

C Murray Spencer goes 7, and I'm on the clock with my choice of 2 guys. Crap, I was hoping my choice would be made for me...

C Gordon Dean 20 7'2 259 7'6 Texas 75 B+
PF Lee Dawson 22 6'10 229 7'5 Clemson 72 A-

This is the decision. Dawson is the faceup 4 that I love, and Dean is the big man who I will try to develop into a paint protector and a low post threat. He is massive. The only thing that gives me hesitation with Dean is the offensive prowess. I don't have a big that can score. Dean can't score. I don't have a big that can defend very well. Dean can't defend very well. Dawson is better at both, has similar size, and has a better projected development. Dawson is an excellent offensive post player.

At the end of the day, I love my youth...

IN9VbL4m.jpg

C Gordon Dean

Dawson went #12 to the Magic, who also took Dean, the other PF who was a great defender.

UPDATE: Dean has A potential, yoooooooo. Dawson has B+. Made the right call.

Options

SF Brett Gentry, 80 - 2yr/$4.92m - Obviously accepting. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with him, but he's penciled in as my starting PF again this year, for now.
PG Artem Gornev, 79 - $1.73m - Accept. 6th man who is progressing nicely
SG Dedric Bailey, 79 - 2yr/$5.42m - Accepting this too. Traded for him last year. He's an athlete and his shooting has improved.
C Tony Bradley, 75 - $3.54m - Backup centre. Accept
C Harry Giles, 74 - $3.98m - Bradley and Giles are pretty damn similar. I chose to sign the one who's cheaper to backup Dean. Not going to re-sign Giles

Qualifying Offer

PF Juan Hernangomez, 75 - $4.64m - I am not extending this. Juan sucks, bye

Free Agency

I'm not looking for any starters in free agency. I don't want to hand out a big contract in this weak class. I do need depth every except the 1 and 5, so I will be grabbing a few guys.

SG JJ Reddick, 77 - 1yr/$2.56m - good scorer off the bench, will get limited minutes
SG Andre Robinson, 76 - 1yr/$2.12m - Perimeter defender, won't play unless injury or matchup based in the playoffs
SF Terrance Ross, 77 - 1yr/$2.73m - As a Raptor fan, I have a soft spot for him
PF Jonas Jerebko, 78 - 1yr/$2.61m - Stretch 4
SF Norman Powell, 76 - 1yr/2.04m - Come back to me!

Just played a summer league game. Sharp's shot has relly developed... I hate that he's a lefty, and Dean is a lefty too. blah

Year 4

Next year I will list the top 25 players in the league, once there is a new player in there. I know that the #1 pick in 2018, Jeffrey Mercer, is an 89 overall, and my boy Mike Peterson is 88.

Lineup
Position Player Ovr Mins
PG Michael Peterson 89 36
SG Dedric Bailey 79 30
SF Gus Sharp 79 34
PF Brett Gentry 82 32
C Gordon Dean 78 30

6 PG Artem Gornev 80 28
7 PF Markieff Morris 78 20
8 SF Ivica Zubac 78 16
9 SG JJ Redick 78 14
10 PF Norman Powell 76 0
11 SG Terrance Ross 76 0
12 PF Jonas Jerebko 76 0
13 C Tony Bradley 72 0
Res PG Derrick Rose 79 0
Res SG Andre Robertson 76 0

Taking one player out of the rotation to give more minutes to the starting guys. This team won't challenge for the title, but I may make the playoffs in a late seed. Either way, I am gonna work the starters more because I won't need them until June.

Montreal continues to look bad, and I hold their 1st round pick, along with my own.

Horsley is an absolutely ridiculous prospect. He is 6'10 with a 7'6 wing span, 20 years old, is a developing offensive prospect with C+ inside, B- mid, C 3s. On defense, A- interior D, and B perimeter D. A+ potential.

Ignore all of that. He has 95 standing dunk, and 86 driving dunk. 99 hands. All post attirubutes are 75+.

He has 97 speed and 96 vertical. @MKnight82

I can't for the life of me understand that. This is a Giannis level athlete. I won the lottery the last 2 years, where was this kid.

This might be the best all around prospect I've seen in my franchises. I really, really hope Montreal is god awful this year.

Montreal Update:

Montreal is currently the 5th worst team in the NBA. Be worse

Contract Extensions

Tony Bradley has been good to me, but I would rather keep Zubac. $7.5m is too steep fdor a 3rd center.

There is no one else to extend. I have a ton of picks not this year, but the net year to fill my roster out. This will be another offseason of 1 year deals.

We made it! This team outperformed what I expected. I was thinking a 6-8 seed and round 1 playoff loss. The team started strong and never looked back. Didn't really have any injuries longer than a few days, so that helps. I was expecting to be a pretty poor team defensively, but I ended tied for 1st in points against... I guess I can thank @MKnight82 for that as I have played Gentry at PF the last 2 years.

The Monsters let me down. I have next to no shot at Horsley, which is okay since I don't need two superstars. I just hope he doesn't go to the Clippers. They are going to be absolutely stacked in a couple years.

Round 1

SF Gus Sharp 81   SF Kawhi Leonard 95
PF Brett Gentry 84   PF Lamarcus Aldridge 88
C Gordon Dean 80   C Cheick Diallo 82

For some reason Kawhi hasn't been winning awards in this franchise. Not sure why, he's one of the top few players in the league...

Anyway, Peterson has developed to a 92 at the end of his 2nd year. This makes me feel much better about missing on other guys I liked. I'm not looking to create a superteam, those fizzle out. I think the Spurs are a better all around team, but I'm hoping my small ball play can get me through this round.

Game 1

Sonics win 109-101 and lead the series 1-0. Gus Sharp scored 25 points. Against Kawhi? Wow. He was 7/16 from 3.... that is an absurd amount lol

Game 2

Sonics win 113-105 and lead the series 2-0. Sharp was 5/13 from deep this game. I get he's my best shooter, but what kind of ball movement is this.

Game 3

Spurs win 113-95 at home; the Sonics lead the series 2-1. Peterson had a 25-5-7-3 line, and shot 10-11 from the field. Once again, Sharp has 16 3 attempts. How do I stop this...

Coaching Change

I have removed the preference for scoring options. They are all now set to "no preference".

Game 4

Spurs win 105-102 and the series is now tied 2-2. Dean was 22-9. Sharp goes from averaging 15 three point shots a game to having 4 this game. I am going to be messing with the coaching settings to find a happy medium.

Game 5

Spurs win 125-110, and now lead the series 3-2. That's 3 games in a row. Peterson and SHarp scored 22 and 21 respectively. Got embarrassed in the rebounding department.

Game 6

I will play this game with 6 minute quarters, pro-rated stats to a full 12 minute game.

This game was a BLAST. I was not expecting to love so many players, but really I like the entire starting 5. Sharp is going to be a superstar. Dedric Bailey, the SG, can shoot very well now and is unbelievably fast. The PG is a great shooter , he did get the ball stolen from him a couple times.

There were 27 lead changes, and the game was really close until the last few minutes. Kawhi was too much.

Sonics   Spurs
130   144
PG Mike Peterson 30/4/4   SF K Leonard 42/8/10/2/4
SF Gus Sharp 24/2   SG Pat Conaughton 22
SF/PF Brett Gentry 18/10   PG George Hill 18
SG Dedric Bailey 10/0/4   SG Tony Daniels 18
C Gordon Dean 10/22/6   PF Lamarcus Aldridge 16/10

Gentry is an old school driving small forward. He had a couple dunks and drew some fouls. I wish he could shoot, but I have a hard time letting him go after actually playing with him. I didn't think I'd like him on defense, but they didn't attack him with Aldridge.
