Maxx, and Moehrig are set to be the only remnants of their tenure, and they've only been gone 2 seasons. And who, exactly, have we lost that we're missing? Who was acquired in the Mack and Cooper trades that have become permanent high quality fixtures of the franchise that our course trajectory is worse without? Nobody. Jacobs was the only one that came even close and he was always a high volume but relatively disappointing RB who is about to just walk for nothing. You must've not been around, but I spent the last 2 years on a near-daily hate fest of all things McDaniels and Zeigler and Patriot Way, and even I can't say that those morons shipped anyone acquired by Gruden and Mayock that would have changed the franchise- and yet they still managed to gut the team somehow. The only 2 moves they made in that regard were: Darren Waller who was on the sidelines more often than not. Derek Carr, who Gruden and Mayock inherited. And, yeah, I was a fan of his. He gave us steady top 12ish play with the occasional top 8-10 play. But that was not only the past, I'll be the first to say that his top 8-10 play was largely a mixture of other QBs underperforming and it was what I call "conservative top 10 play". Padded stats, decent numbers, but way too reserved and wasn't going to carry teams to wins on its own. Very Goff-like or Kirk Cousins-like where the stats are pretty enough but the box stats weren't getting the job done. Still, they bungled it by getting zero comp. And yet, that still doesn't register as franchise breaking since Carr wouldn't be the difference between us and the playoffs right now. We last an extra week at best. That McDaniels and Zeigler managed to do one of the worst jobs ever with gutting the team, wasting assets, and generally tanking the outlook of the franchise without shipping off anyone of note Gruden and Mayock themselves acquired just reinforces that Gruden and Mayock accomplished damn near nothing. It shows how little McDaniels and Zeigler inherited to start with. Dude, you're so painfully off base here that you've managed the near impossible. You have found possibly the only single shred of anything remotely possibly theoretically related to coaching and team administration that @big_palooka and myself have ever agreed on. Ian Gold, anyone? Shaun King? Barrett Ruud as a franchise stalwart on D? Tampa suffered a long, slow descent into the abyss under Gruden. Following that 1 season. His roster building was atrocious and his scheming was almost as bad as that. At best, he was John Fox in Denver, getting stupid lucky to sniff a ring after a mediocre tenure in Carolina and followed up by a joke in Chicago.
