Giants4eva
Real shame, i really thought he was getting his team to play alot better in the later part of the season and we were starting to some flashes.. oh well. Best of luck Wink
minutemancl
The main reason this sucks is because there are more ways to downgrade at DC than improve. Wink wasn't great, but he was good. His attacking defense was very fun to watch. That said, he also got fired in Baltimore after fielding top defenses, so while Daboll may have a problem with coach-to-coach relationships, I think Wink does too. Whenever we played a top offense, we got dismantled. The Cowboys have taken us apart 4 straight games now. We didn't finish better than 19th in any team defensive category this year, and we weren't much better last year. We NEED to retain Andre Patterson and Jerome Henderson. Those 2 are some of the best position coaches in football, and losing them would suck a lot more than losing Wink. Leslie Frazier is the first guy that comes to mind for DC, and I'm pretty confident that he is a very good DC, but I don't know that I like the idea of just running back the Bills coaching staff from a few years ago. We'll have to see what happens. This is going to be a really big decision that impacts Dabs future here mightily. Watch him go to Philly next year and have them finally set the team sacks record. Acgott
Anyone have stats on how much Kayvon was in coverage? Seems like 1 out of every 3 plays, I saw him back there. The other plays he gets stonewalled.

Between Azeez, Kayvon, and Haddy, we had something like the 71st, 75th, and 78th best EDGE rushers in terms of pass rush win rate. Is it the coaching, or the personnel? minutemancl
I don't know if anyone else listens to Talkin Giants, but Bobby is dead on here. Wink was acting like a messy b the second half of the season, especially with that 24 graphic on the back of his playcalling sheet in the final game.

The trend is to hire offensive coordinators to be head coaches, meaning there are many good defensive minds out there who would love to get primetime exposure from a big-market team like the Giants. I will miss his attacking style of defense but I believe our next defensive coordinator will be as good as Wink if not better, just not as flashy as Wink. I still remember a few years back when he said "expect Odell Beckham to not be a Giant after this season".. and off he went that March. minutemancl
The truth is always somewhere in the middle, right? Here's what I think happened: Dabs and Wink have very different coaching styles, and Wink truly did not like Dabs's abrasiveness (relatively fair). Dabs is also extremely player friendly and never throws any player under the bus, meanwhile, Wink went on an 8 minute rant midseason this year that made Xavier McKinney look like a fool. While the media and us ate it up, there is a reason you don't do that. I think Dabs did not like that. I think the report of Wink creating his own fiefdom with the Wilkinson brothers is true as well. I think Dabs values continuity and does think Wink is a good coordinator, and would be ok with having him back, but the insubordination would have to stop, so he fired the Wilkinson brothers and put the ball back in Wink's court: either we can work together, or you can leave. Wink chose to leave. This drawing out of the resignation though is baby stuff and really doesn't reflect well on Wink. 1 hour ago, Giants4eva said: wow this got ugly fast between Dabs and Wink.. im telling u anytime Jay Glazer says a rumor.. its gospel. When it comes to the Giants and Glazer, you can believ with 100% certainty everything he puts out. Dude is as plugged in as you can be.
