armsteeld
Rd1. Alabama RT JC Latham 6'6 335 Insert Broderick back to LT and Latham is a plug and play RT. JC is nicknamed the Trench King as he routinely dominates in the trenches. Resident OL guru Brandon Thorn (one of the best OL masterminds) has JC Latham as his 3rd best OT behing Fashanu and Alt. @warfelg I know you don't like his presnap penalties but that's a coaching issue that can be fixed. Rd2. Kentucky LB Trevin Wallace 6'2 241 Big, fast, physical, and nasty are what Trevin Wallace brings to the field. Under the radar player who jumps off the screen when watching him. He was timed by gps at 21 mph 👀 That is blazing speed. He plays the game violently and uses his speed to flow sideline to sideline making tackles. Rd3. Missouri DL Darius Robinson 6'5 296 Violent hands. Moves extremely well for such a big guy. Uses his hands well to get off blocks. Relentless as a pass rusher (8 sacks) and plays the run well. Noticed him last season and it's good to see that he only got better. Cam Heyward is on the downside of his career so adding Darius Robinson to DeMarvin Leal and Keanu Benton would be an excellent move. Rd4. Arizona WR Jacob Cowing 5'11 170 Why WR this early? Diontae Johnson will be a free agent after 2024 so I'm adding another guy to challenge CAIII as his replacement. Jacob Cowing is fast fast! Yes I typed it that way. He reminds me of CAIII and play Slot or Boundary WR. He runs good routes and has good hands. Rd4. Tennessee QB Joe Milton 6'5 237 Josh Allen clone is what I see. Joe Milton has the strongest arm I've seen since Josh Allen. Age isn't a concern since he'll be battling Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph for playing time. Can make every throw to any part of the field. Hits his receivers in stride to allow yards after the catch. Good pocket presence with surprising mobility as he looks to buy time as a passer rather than run the ball. Is accurate but will flat foot throw at times. Pairing him with our receiving core seems like cheating but I'm all for it. Rd6. Alabama CB/S Malachi Moore 6' 200 Malachi Moore played the Star position backing up and replacing Brian Branch. Moore has good size, good speed, and has the versatility to play anywhere in the secondary. He's an upgraded version of Mike Hilton. Rd7. Colorado State OLB Mohamed Kamara 6'2 250 Relentless. Explosive. Violent hands. Strong. Intimidator. Kamara is probably the best defensive player you've never heard of. He also has the ability to drop in space. Depending on what happens to Markus Golden, we will need a 4th OLB. I can imagine Joey Porter will be in Coach Tomlin's ear about this player.

rlon
Gonna be big issues for me if this team takes an LB over DL, CB, or OC in that situation. Do like most of the picks, Joe a Milton aside. I think Latham is one guy who makes this team dominant in the tranches.

I didnt watch much here but this must be a sabotage mock. The first guy I watched one shuffle and thought Chuks. If you have a dominant RT lets get a dominant LT and not settle for slow lethargic RTs. We have those. The next guy does not pack the punch at 241. Hes not instinctive. Hes quick but its Holcomb and his quickness or the way he moves is actually a detriment with his size. Hes actually more movable. Its Einstein Darius Robinson didnt see anything here. And then in the 3rd round. Bizarre CAIII is CAIII. Undersized. The underthrown ball a minute in or whatever is CAIII to a tee Joe Milton is Bowling Green QB 5 Malachi Moore. Upgraded version see above on Einstein. Targeting on tackles is chaotic at best. Hes not sharp. While I like his tenacity and thought special teamer 🥰 hell get overdrafted bc brand name with recognition. So hell go 4th rd and have a middling career. What were looking for is Malachi Moore's version of Mike Hilton, which is Minkah Fitzpatrick. But its okay, instead go Grambling. Kamara havent watched in a while but hes your average OLB that strength against average tackles is okay but has impact mitigated against the best. Ill give you D+, A for the sabotage 🥱

Just to be clear - I like Latham and would want him. There’s A LOT to love with this guy. My concern is being up there with the penalties two straight years. Playing for Saben and being high on that list for two years isn’t great. My biggest concern for the NFL level (and I than Geoff Schwartz for this knowledge. Watch his holding plays. Typically they come on speed rushes to the outside where he bends his waist, latches on, and pulls the guy from behind. That’s the concern. 17 hours ago, armsteeld said: Rd2. Like the player, don’t know if he’s the best pick when the DL in front of him is going to allow blockers to the second level. I think he’s a 3/4 pick. 17 hours ago, armsteeld said: Rd3. Outside of OL I have a hard time with offense right now without it being one of the top guys. A player like this will depend on who the OC is. 17 hours ago, armsteeld said: Rd4. jebrick
I am against draft QB late in todays NFL. They will not develop because they will get no reps. It is a wasted draft pick for one as raw as Milton. This is where the NFL needs to have a "minor league" with perhaps the USFL ( or what ever the combo is called ) for Spring football. Give someone like Milton more of a chance to play and learn while a franchise kept his rights for the rookie contract. And do not try to compare him to Brock Purdy. Purdy was nearly a finished product. Milton has a strong arm and nothing else on the resume. You would need to develop his mechanics and ability to read a real offense.

Expand NFL rosters. Combine regional teams like the Bills, Steelers, Browns, and Eagles and have non-NFL rostered hopefuls fill out the squad. NFL players practice with their on teams during the week and then weekly have the availability to travel and walkthrough with the USFL team on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and play on Tuesday then back to their teams for practice Wednesday through Friday. It's for guys you do not intend to give a helmet too, but I think of the Steelers and guys like Spencer Anderson and Rodney Williams could get live action and practice squad guys can get action and have more of a chance, like Luq Barcoo. With expanded rosters a team like the Lions would probably happily trade Milton's development for a low rung vet as the #3 for a season/two rather than feeling he needs to be the emergency QB on Sundays. USFL gets a better audience and better player pool (likely better coaches too since it's another opportunity for development/advancement under the NFL eye) NFLPA gets deeper rosters with more chances for advancement NFL gets development without the expanded practice time for all players Fans get more football when they WANT more football Who says no?! I mean, literally everyone, probably, because it's likely a logistical nightmare with an inconsistent product.

I like it except the combining regional teams because of rivals, but also teams like looking at different things/styles/etc. I like UFL as a spring sport, it would be cool to see it like NBA 2-way contract, where NFL free agents are free to sign with who they want, but at the same time the Steelers could option up to a certain number of guys to the team. I wouldn’t mind seeing a 7v7 league pop up in season. 2 OL on the field in every play, so you can fill out the line with a TE/WR/RB, give you 4 skill guys, and 1 QB. On the defensive side 1 IDL and 1 EDGE with 1 ILB on the field at all times. Kinda a modified arena setup.

armsteeld
Been super busy but I will get back into posting about more prospects. Minus age, Joe Milton is the closest thing to Josh Allen in this draft class. Their college production is almost identical but Milton has a better completion percentage. Go watch all the cutups on YouTube of Joe Milton and you'll see a good QB who isn't raw. He's the total package. Remember, all players will need NFL level coaching once they enter the league. @zflairway mock drafts introduce players to a fan base. To consistently mock the same players over and over is boring. Change it up. Introduce guys no one is talking about. Will they realistically get drafted that high? No one knows because the start is too unpredictable BUT some players stand out so.... Dionyae Johnson will be a free agent after the 2024 season. His cap hit is between 16-18 million iirc. We need another route runner/separation guy if DJ isn't resigned or if he wants a trade. Jacob Cowing has the makings of a Tank Dell in he's smaller but highly explosive. Also, don't look at our targets being utilized by our current OC. I expect the Steelers to sign a competent OC within the next week or two. I want Byron Leftwich but would welcome Eric Biennemy too. You?
mwalker
I love how much this board (a few folks I've seen around for years) invest in this kind of thing. I don't love the picks here, but I love that thought that's gone into it. And many other offseason premonitions as well. I'm sure I'll forget some great posters here but @armsteeld, @3rivers, @warfelg, @jebrick, @Dcash4, @JusttPlainNasty, @Steeler****man, appreciate the all the considered commentary over the years, fellas. As someone who has lived outside the US for a long time, and as a life-long Steelers fan, I come back to this forum to read and occasionally engage in your genuine love of the Steelers.
