It really does a nice job of walking you through it to the point where you'll learn everything. Gloomhaven/Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion are intimidating to start but not that complex once you get into them and have the core concepts. Does Gloomhaven work well for 2 people? And the regular game at 3 player. I know some people prefer it at two.
MikeT14
Gloomhaven is on sale. I was kinda curious.

I'm really excited for that, coming to Kickstarter. It's basically a head to head dueling game that uses the Yahtzee style rolling for your actions. The original was a tournament style fighting story to the game, but all of it was fantasy setting, or most of it ways anyways. And even with dice and rolling the game was very unique in how each character played. Dice Throne: Marvel? On KS? Aww, @The Gnat , why ya gotta do my bank account this way? I bought it and set it up but it seems overwhelming. It is 100x easier than regular Gloomhaven. But yes, it can be overwhelming. However, it does a good job of walking you thru the game for 10 or so scenarios. The best way to learn that game is to play it (though watching a few play videos might help). If you haven't played either, start with Jaws of the Lion for sure. MUCH easier to learn the game that way. MUCH. Also, much easier to set up and play. We are playing Jaws with 2 people. It works well (and one of us has no role playing experience).
titansNvolsR#1
Playing season 2 of Blood Bowl in a 12 person league. Used vampires last year and finished last in the league with a record of 0-5-7. Using wood elves this season and currently 2-0-0. Feels good to win. 🤣
The Gnat
Blood Bowl is one that I haven't had the opportunity to try. It seems pretty fun though. I got a game of Clank! In! Space! played last night, really good game, and added in an expansion. Then three games of Hanamikoji. Such a good two player game.

I jumped in during a busy season in my life so didn't give it much time. The strategies and matchups are fairly deep though Nuffle's kiss can still ruin you if the dice decide they aren't going to be in your favor. pwny
I picked up Chronicles of Crime and Marvel Champions this week. Gonna play Chronicles of Crime this weekend. Champions is probably going to be a solo play for me when we don't have the time to sit down together and work through Arkham Horror LCG. Was very interested in picking up Marvel United too, but finding that a bunch of expansions are forever going to be unavailable because they were Kickstarter exclusives took all the wind out of my sails for collecting it. 29 heroes, 7 villains, and a few modules all being forever unobtainable killed any desire I had to get into that. I have Marvel Champions, everything for it, I need to play it more. And I have Chronicles of Crime, but I haven't played it yet. With Marvel United, it's more than that. You'd want to track down a Kickstarter pledge. You might want to track down the X-Men Marvel United Kickstarter, might be able to do late pledge no that. But it's more heroes and villains, since there are the themed expansion boxes, but also just boxes of expansion characters. Though, I will say between Marvel United, Marvel United X-Men core box, and Enter the Spider-verse which I think is all the retail, the is a lot of content. But if you're interested in a Marvel game, Marvel Dice Throne is coming to Kickstarter today. It's a dice rolling, character upgrading game that has been out for a bit with different characters. Generally head to head but can be played with more. Drops today at 11 AM CST on Kickstarter, and I'm going to be backing it right away. It looks like the XMen Kickstarter is done too, so that looks like it’s another 40 heroes and 20 villains that are kickstarter exclusives on that. Yeah, I’m definitely never getting into that game. Just way too much that I’m either going to have to pay through the nose to get on the 3rd party market or never get ahold of. We’re much more into cooperative games than competitive ones. Really a big fan of the talking together, bouncing ideas off one another and figuring out how to team up, and just working together towards an end goal rather than the more competitive side of games. The only game of any kind that the two of us play competitively vs each other is Mario Kart and some retro sports video games with low complexity. So I don’t think Dice Throne would be for us. I think the next competitive board game I pick up is gonna be Baseball Highlights 2045, and that won’t be for a while.
SirA1
Wife and I played a bunch of our 2 player games tonight for the first time. We enjoyed them all. Jixia Academy (Hanamikoji) - I know this one @The Gnatenjoys. Probably the simplest of the three we played but we both like card games and can count cards. 7 Wonders Duel - This one will take a few more plays to get down. But we had fun. I was focused too much on the Wonders and the wife snuck up and got the Military victory on me. Truffle Shuffle - Fun little game where you complete sets and runs to score points by pulling cards from a tableau. Played over 3 rounds and was close at the end. We had fun with the 2 player games so I picked up Skull as I have heard good things about it. My wife's favorite game right now is Dune Imperium and she is at least willing to try newer stuff. She asked to play Terraforming Mars a couple of weeks ago. And enjoyed it enough to give it another try to get more familiar with the mechanics. I sold a couple of used games and finally picked up Maracaibo, I've been wanting to get it for about a year. The other new one I got recently but haven't tried is Nidavellir . Looking forward to getting some more games in for the holidays.
