Sugashane
Ok so I will do a quick mock as celebration for getting all my assignments done before the weekend. Also, I just ate and need to digest before I go to lift. Lol I’m running with Oscar de la Flubby, Waldron, and starting where the Bears are right now. Bears hire Chris Harris and Eberflus retains playcalling. Let walk – Mooney - Ngakoue Justin Jones – Has spurts where he has good plays but at this point is a depth guy. Lucas Patrick – this man blows goats Rasheem Green – I keep forgetting he is on the team. ESB – wish I could forget he is on the team. D’Onta Foreman (DF knows he is RB3 and knows he is more talented than that, so that is why I don’t offer him a deal) Starting Cap - $63.453 million *This is NOT counting any rollover, no contract altering restructures for existing deals, or anything else. The number will go up later. Cuts FS Eddie Jackson – Saves $12.56 mil Jackson just isn’t worth his contract, he wasn’t last year and isn’t this year. Just toss him out. IOL Cody Whitehair – Saves $9.146 mil Can’t snap, blocking is dropping rapidly, etc. Just no reason to keep him. I liked his potential versatility to keep last offseason but he stayed a year too long. HB Travis Homer – Saves $1.9 mil The bulk of the carries go to Herbert and Johnson, just throw Scott in as a receiving back on 3rd and long. Cap Space – $78.929 Re-sign CB Jaylon Johnson – 5 years, $88 mil (ties for 6th highest AAV), $50 mil guaranteed. ($17.6m AAV) *If Johnson refuses I will franchise him * Johnson is a top cover corner, he doesn’t get a ton of turnovers but he locks one side down pretty damn well – especially considering the lack of passrush the Bears had for the first half of last season. He bet on himself and he definitely won on that bet. Re-sign him, deal with the first-world problem. LS Scales – 4 years, $4 mil, $2 mil guaranteed ($1m AAV) Just extend him ffs. Why are you pinching pennies and stringing along the guy who doesn’t botch snaps? He does one thing, and does it pretty much perfectly. Also, Santos just got a nice deal, who gets the ball to his holder? Every freaking time… TE Marcedes Lewis – 1 year, $2 million TE3/OT5 is the perfect role for the old man. If Kmet goes down then Tonyan is the move guy and Lewis is the inline guy. If Tonyan goes down Kmet is the move guy and Lewis again steps up on the line. WR/Ret Trent Taylor – 1 year, $1.75 million He will need competition but so far has been the best returner. Also as a the WR5 or whatever he is a solid option. LB Dylan Cole – 1 year, $1.5 million Depth signing. Cap Space – $64.15 million Free Agent Signings EDGE Chase Young – 4 years, $75 million, $45 mil guaranteed (14/18/19/24) I still think Epenesa is a massively undervalued player but already mocked him to the Bears once, so I go with the “Young n’ Sweat-y” connection. I think he might get more but his injury history likely works against him and WR Gabriel Davis – 4 years, $50 million, $23 million guaranteed (11/12/13/14) Davis has a lot of physical traits but he is in large part a beneficiary to having Diggs taking most of the defensive attention. That being said, getting to line up next to Moore will open a lot for him as well. RB Saquon Barkley – 4 years, $40 million, $20 million guaranteed. (8/9/11/12) Bears want to add a versatile talent to the RB group, one that is a serious threat in the passing game as well. As I said, I count the QB and RB positions together since 99% of the offensive plays go through one of them. He could have made more but this season wasn’t great for him. Again, it was in New York. While the total isn’t tops in the league, he is getting like the 4th-5th most guaranteed cash. Not bad after a down year. TE Mike Gesicki – 2 years, $5 million Waldon likes 12 personnel and 11 personnel, I like the idea of 2 TEs where the move TE can be a slot WR. Gesicki fell off a lot but it was in NE too, so maybe the Bears can get a steal. OG Dalton Risner – 2 years, $8 million This is to push Davis. Risner isn’t a world beater by any means but he looked good the few times I saw him. He didn’t give up any sacks and that is where I have the biggest concerns from Davis, so let them battle it out. S Micah Hyde – 2 years, $10 million, fully guaranteed While EJax isn’t the guy he was early on he did seem to connect well with the guys on the team and was one of the vets. To help with this I bring in a guy who has been a leader for a long time. He gets his (likely) last contract fully guaranteed and sees Young N’ Sweat-y up front, so it makes it an easy decision for him. C Jon Feliciano - 2 years, $5 mil, fully guaranteed (2/3) He's the guy that Patrick was suppose to be. He is a IOL depth player who can step in and produce at a solid level. Jon is a big guy who anchors well and started almost half the games at C this year for SF. IDK if he played really well but I rarely saw a mistake come from his side. He can push at all three spots on the IOL and provide depth at any spot. Also I want competition all around so he would compete with anyone else wanting to be a top reserve in there. If he could beat out Davis and Risner, then he'd start there. P Matt Araiza – 3 years, $3 million, fully guaranteed Gill sucks, move on. Araiza was cleared of everything and deserves another shot, he was BOOMING punts before everything happened. Cap Space - $16.65 * Here is where cap space could be created by reworking a deal or two as well, but the cap will actually be higher due to the ceiling getting raised, rollover, etc.. Draft 1.1 Caleb Williams – QB He’s my favorite overall prospect due to position value (MHJ is the only one I have pegged above him. With the Fields experiment done in Chicago Poles doubles down on Eberflus and Waldron but entrusting the new franchise QB hopeful to them. 1.9 – Brock Bowers – TE I was one pick away from Fashanu, who is my 3rd rated prospect, but getting 4 is a damn great deal too. Bowers is a match up nightmare. He is a plus blocker but is more athletic than Kmet is, and is essentially a rocked up WR in the passing game. He allows Waldron to play chess with the defense and have a combo player to run 11 and 12 personnel with, as Bowers will have an advantage as the TE2 or slot WR. ***Bears trade Justin Fields to PIT for 2.52 and a 2025 3rd (also saves CHI $3.23 mil). Pit wants to get two years with him as they build the team and make a decision on trying for a rookie QB. *** 2.52 – Ja’Lynn Polk – WR I feel like Polk gets overlooked a LOT due to Odunze, which is weird because Nabers doesn’t seem to steal Thomas’ shine as much, but whatever. Polk isn’t the normal size for a slot but I really like how he runs his routes and how physical he is. Almost reminds me of Andre Johnson or BMarsh without being as big. Same mentality though. He played all over so he is comfortable moving around, meaning he can back up more positions and can be moved as a chesspiece for Waldron. 3.75 – Gabriel Murphy – EDGE Good EDGE to grow and develop behind Young n’ Sweat’y, already has shown some serious gifts as a passrusher. If he was a bit taller/longer I think he could have snuck into the first. His talent is above his draft position. 4.110 – Javon Foster – C Foster may be able to be an OT in the NFL but I like the idea of moving him inside. If I would have been able to draft Fashanu then Jones would kick inside and Foster would push for IOL depth or for a swing OT role, but instead I am moving him to OC. He is a really physical guy who likes to dig and drive. 4.127 – Malik Washington – WR Small slot WR that likely knocks Jones off the team (Oh no!!) and may supplant Scott immediately. He was able to get a lot of gadget plays but did run a lot of nice intermediate routes too. Finds zones and sits in them, catches at full speed a lot, and always seems to get open. 5.146 – Grayson Murphy - EDGE Gabriel’s twin so they have the same physical gifts, plus it gives me one more chance to put in the phrase Young n’ Sweat-y, since he would also be backing them up. 6.186- Jordan Jefferson – NT Another physical specimen. Made Feldman’s Freak list at #71, he is a wall and might never be worth a damn at rushing the passer, but look at the difference Billings has made by being a top NT. Jefferson can learn from Billings and rotate in after Dexter early on. 7.232 – Rylie Mills – FB I just really like the guy. He is a crazy try hard athlete, is a damn powerful player, will do anything to help the team (has played DL and OG) and is a freaky athlete (Feldman Freak List #56). This late I love his physical gifts and get my own version of Ricard. A 6’5”, 290 pound tank that can get rolling at 19mph. I want to see him lead block for Saquon. Depth Chart QB – Williams, Bagent HB- Barkley, Herbert, Johnson FB – Mills (Lewis) WR – Moore, Davis, (Bowers), Polk, Washington, Scott TE – Kmet, Bowers, Gesicki, Lewis LT – Jones, Borom LG – Jenkins C – Foster/Feliciano RG – Davis/Risner RT – Wright LE – Sweat, Murphy Twins 3T – Dexter, Pickens (Walker) NT – Billings, (Dexter), Jefferson, (Pickens) RE –Young, Walker SAM – Sanborn, Cole MIKE – Edmunds, (Sanborn) WILL – Edwards, Sewell CB – Johnson, Stevenson, Smith NB – Gordon FS – Hyde SS – Brisker K – Santos P – Araiza LS – Scales KR & PR – Washington/Scott/Taylor Young n’ Sweat-y
Epyon
My major critique is Foster as the starting Center. That's a big risk given he's not playing the position. Especially since snapping will be critical, given Caleb running nearly exclusively out of shotgun in college. also the backup is a guy named Feliciano.... Who dat? Wasn't listed under FA pickups or draft picks. Beyond that, I'm likely in the minority on this one, but I don't want Chase Young. He's been pretty disappointing overall for a career relative to the talent, and the cost. I'd rather spend the money else where, like a bigger splash at Center. those things aside, I really like a lot of the other moves. I doubt McCasky lets us get Ariza, but the kid deserves a break after getting railroaded.

Honestly I would keep Patrick as a backup, I don't think he did anything to make money this year. Love Bowers there, although are you assuming the top 3 WR are gone? I would happily take Odunze or Won'tyoubemynabers over Bowers or any OT but guessing they moved in your mock. And I could care less about keeping Trent Reznor on the team, let a young WR or new S try returning. As for Young that doesn't seem like crazy money but might when he's sitting out the rest of the year in week 6. Overall good, but I think you could do better on the Flus nicknames. There is also a lot out there about him being pretty unconcerned with run defense responsibilities going back even to college and I can’t see Flus being okay with that at all. Getting Bowers at 9 would be awesome.
AZBearsFan
8 hours ago, Sugashane said: Let walk – Mooney - 2 year, $25 mil deal, $13 mil guaranteed (12.5/12.5) ***This is the contract I offer and he rejects it to search elsewhere in hopes of getting a big deal. If we offer Mooney $12.5M/year on a multi-year deal I think he’ll take that in a cocaine heartbeat. He’s regressed notably 2 years in a row since going for 1000+ yards in 2021. Your proposal is more in AAV than Jakobi Meyers got last offseason (3/$33M) and Meyers was hitting the market coming off 3 consistently productive seasons. With the WR FA market set to have a bunch of WR2s on it and a deep draft at the position, I think Mooney is destined for a 1-year prove it deal this offseason more in the neighborhood of $2-4M.

Maybe @dll2000 will have more insight since he did it for longer but snapping isn't that hard to teach for kids, so as professionals with elite physical traits (compared to general population, not within the NFL) I just don't understand how these guys struggle to get snapping down. My son had a first year C snapping to him this year and they do under center, pistol and shotgun and even with them being new and the kid having little athletic gifts he did really well. That's why Whitehair sucking at it just baffles me. My preference would have been getting AJ Epenesa and Connor Williams. But I used Epenesa on my last mock and STLunatic just used him so I simply went elsewhere. I personally like Young and wouldnt have minded a 3rd being given up for him as long as an extension could have been reached. That's where I think the hangup would have been for making the trade. Sweat KNEW he was getting bank but Young was making $8.6 mil on a rookie deal. Would he want a two year extension to try and inflate his worth, would he want a longer deal with everything riding on his potential, etc. 1 hour ago, BEAR FACE DOWN ARROW said: Yeah I was concerned about center depth, but the Feliciano equation solves this? Patrick could be offered a min deal for sure. This mock just has who I know would make the team, that's why the depth of the DBs and LBs is so shallow. These are the primaries and min vets would fill out the rest. Kramer would still fight for the final depth in the IOL as well. So I went and made my FA and then do my mocks off a simulator. It keeps me from spending time convincing myself that X player is here or could fall all the way to here. It also kind of keeps me from gambling too much in FA. I actually thought I was going to get Alt or Fashanu at 1.9 and kick Jones to C but there were 3 QBs (one being WIlliams), 2 WRs, 1 DE (Giants), and 2 OTs drafted before 1.9 so I had to pick between Odunze and Bowers. Didn't get a trade offer to move back 1-2 spots so I just took Bowers. Taylor is fighting to his spot as a returner. If the younger guys are better then he's be a cut or a PS stash. It takes a lot of live reps to get good at it.
dll2000
I don’t think Poles will, but I think I would resign Mooney. He should be cheap. He is awesome guy. Hard worker. Will (very likely) have a new QB. A year removed from surgery and worst year of his career. Maybe lose some weight and get some quickness back. Hopefully draft Bowers or Odunze. You still need 6 WRs. I wouldn’t be shocked if Mooney has a decent year for someone else next season.

HuskieBear
i'm fine with your draft, but low-key hate your FAs. Young freelances too much and doesn't play the run at all. he's a classic "looks like tarzan, plays like jane" player. I'm not sure he gets that kind of deal I think Davis is super overrated - yeah he'll have a game with 120 yards, but have three more right after it with 0. i think he had a GREAT playoff game 3 years ago and has been living off that ever since. i could get behind saquon and hyde risner was a FA for the first half of the season. the problem with "pushing davis" is that either your $10M guard is sitting on the bench or your brand new signed $4M guard is. that's a lot for a backup that ~hopefully~ doesn't see the field. this was arguably the worst season of davis's career and i think the team will point back to the death of his mother as a big reason for that. I would expect Carter and a mid-round rookie to be the competition like you mentioned, gesicki fell off a bridge the last few years. i think he could be got for even cheaper. same with araiza - he hasn't been in the league for 2 years and the PR would likely be an issue. if he's signed, it'll be a 1 year minimum deal to start

Depth Chart QB – Williams, Bagent HB- Barkley, Herbert, Johnson FB – Mills (Lewis) WR – Moore, Davis, (Bowers), Polk, Washington, Scott TE – Kmet, Bowers, Gesicki, Lewis LT – Jones, Borom LG – Jenkins C – Foster/Feliciano RG – Davis/Risner RT – Wright LE – Sweat, Murphy Twins 3T – Dexter, Pickens (Walker) NT – Billings, (Dexter), Jefferson, (Pickens) RE –Young, Walker SAM – Sanborn, Cole MIKE – Edmunds, (Sanborn) WILL – Edwards, Sewell CB – Johnson, Stevenson, Smith NB – Gordon FS – Hyde SS – Brisker K – Santos P – Araiza LS – Scales KR & PR – Washington/Scott/Taylor Young n’ Sweat-y I would LOVE SAquan !!!! def VERY in on him !! also VERY in on Bowers !! and Araiza ! Hyde would be a nice pick-up Also very OUT on Young, just too brittle and underachieving. Locking up a guy like that for almost 20m/per is insane to me ! To a lesser extent, I'm also out on Gabriel, we can do better in FA (soo many options) or Draft (much MUCH cheaper inDraft and this Draft absolutely LOADeD !) Kmet Bowers Lewis is probably plenty, but Gesicki would be excellent depth though ! Out on TTayler too, dude gave us nothing in return game, we need to find a KR, probably in the Draft We have to get a StUD C and DT ! If we pick up a 2nd for JF we have to get one there, most likely one of the Cs. Maybe we get super lucky and can find a diff-making DT in this Draft, but probably not, so we will likely have to fill this need in FA
