"This is the game everyone's been waiting to see. We're going to show up and fight. Obviously it's got a lot of history to it; I've been thinking about this game since we lost it last year. Very much look forward to playing them" - Mitchell Quoted in June: "Tom's sitting there pumping the ball and we had a lot of opportunities to sack him and we didn’t. Rush and coverage go together. If we would have gotten some pressure on him and sacked him a couple of times and get him to cuss his dadgum offensive linemen out, hey man, it's a beautiful world for us." - Butler, DC The fans have been eager for a while too! "Looking forward to the day when these mouthbreathers get a dose of humble pie. Hopefully sooner than later." "Scumbag Brady can't go leave soon enough!" "We owe the Pats quite a few beatings and heartaches. Thus far the Pats have owned this rivalry lately. Yes, the Pats are in our heads and hopefully in our heads enough that we do something different to finally put a beating on Bill, Tom and the rest of the Pats. Then hopefully, we can get in their heads too." 01/22/2017 * New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers H Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) W 36-17 66,829 10/23/2016 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers A Heinz Field (Pittsburgh, PA) W 27-16 66,009 09/10/2015 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers H Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) W 28-21 66,829 11/03/2013 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers H Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) W 55-31 68,756 10/30/2011 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers A Heinz Field (Pittsburgh, PA) L 25-17 64,424 11/14/2010 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers A Heinz Field (Pittsburgh, PA) W 39-26 64,359 11/30/2008 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers H Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) L 33-10 68,756 12/09/2007 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers H Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, MA) W 34-13 68,756 09/25/2005 New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers A Heinz Field (Pittsburgh, PA) W 23-20 64,868 01/23/2005 * New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers A Heinz Field (Pittsburgh, PA) W 41-27 65,242 2017 Regular Season New England Pittsburgh Record 10-3 11-2 Divisional Standings 1st 1st Total Yards Gained 5,206 4,956 Total Offense (Rank) 400.5 (2) 381.2 (4) Rush Offense 113.2 (15) 99.7 (23) Pass Offense 287.2 (1) 281.5 (2) Points Per Game 28.3 (4) 24.6 (8) Touchdowns Scored 39 32 Third Down Conversion Pct. 41.9 42.1 Team Passer Rating 15.4 91.4 Total Yards Allowed 4,870 3,949 Total Defense (Rank) 374.6 (29) 303.8 (6) Rush Defense 253.9 (29) 200.8 (4) Points Allowed/Game 19.2 (5t) 19.3 (7) Touchdowns Allowed 29 29 Third Down Defense (Pct.) 39.3 36.2 Field Goals Made/Attempted 31/34 26/28 Possession Avg. 30:39 31:59 Sacks Allowed/Yards Lost 29/168 19/128 Sacks Made/Yards 30/224 41/294 Passing TD/Int. Hunter2_1
So, wonder if they've learned?... All the noise coming out of Pittsburgh is that they need to change their approach. Brady exposing their soft zone coverages for the last 5 or so games has prompted a change of approach, or at least a focus on NE, from DC Butler. They brought in Haden, who's know for his man coverage. They seem to be playing a bit more of a mixture, rather just a conservative D. Maybe they've even kept EVERYTHING back specifically for this game.... I do expect a tougher game from their defense than we are used to. But we still should move the ball on them. Shazier out hurts them, especially defending outside runs. The question is, what are we going to do about their offense which is really firing on all cylinders now. I won't pretend to have any idea how we will stop them, but I know BB and Matty P will have something. We need Flowers and KVN back.

bluemushrooms
I mean, if they do the same stuff on defense they've been doing for the past 500 years against us then they're probably going to get smoked again.
Pats#1
Brown (especially) and Bell scare the crap out of me right now. This team better come out the complete opposite of last week or things will go back quick. On the plus side, Gronk being back should help the struggling Offense from last week, and Flowers and KVN coming back should help the defense. With all of the secondary's attention on Brown, and him still having a decent game probably, I hope we don't lose sight of JuJu Smith Schuster and Martavius Bryant as well, two really fast receivers that could do some damage. As for Bell, he's going to get his no matter what against this run defense which isn't good, we just need to make sure we don't give up the big plays that the Steelers love so much. I'd be pretty surprised if Brady doesn't have a big bounce back game though. I see this being a high scoring back and forth game Pats win 34 -
everlong
This is where we will need Gilmore to bring his A+ game. Brown's game is his crisp route running; Gilmore needs to jam him and disrupt his timing. If we can accomplish that we can turn our focus on stuffing Bell. Hunter2_1
I actually think we'll lose this game. Ben has seemingly sorted his season out, and their offense as a whole is rattling at the moment. I think we will be able to move the ball on them, but won't be able to stop them doing so. Lack of Shazier does hurt them though. Worst thing about a loss, aside from loss of HFA, would actually be the rampant "changing of the guard" posts - which have already started, to be fair. If this is the first of a two part series, this is clearly the least important edition.

1ForTheThumb
Hopefully with the Cannon news we get Waddle back this week. I don't want to have to see anymore Cam Fleming at RT. Expecting huge games out of Hogan and Gronk. I can't wait for this match up.

I wouldn't say success, Brown is the best WR in the game at the moment IMO, no one has success against him. I do think Butler's skillset will allow him to make more plays against Brown than Gilmore. However, if their plan is to play him physical at the line, Gilmore might be a better choice. I dont think pure bump and run coverage is a good idea against AB though, I think he beats that 9 times out of 10 for huge gains.

I'd put Butler and safety help on him at all times. 1 vs 1 with JJSS / Gillmore?
