BetterCallSaul
Am I crazy or was there not an unprecedented amount of coordinator firings this year? Do you think this trend will continue? It seems like some solid coaches were replaced despite some pretty solid success.
Acgott
Not crazy at all. Turnover has been out of control. Way less margin for error. Either you become a HC or get fired.
BetterCallSaul
So bizarre. It’s looking more like the NBA, where teams get impatient and unrealistic, firing really good coaches in an attempt to find amazing hidden gems. I think a big part of this comes from owners pressuring the HC’s to scapegoat someone. And that someone is never a player.
Nabbs4u
You also have to take into account a 1/4 of all NFL Franchises had HC openings. When was the last time we had 8 openings in 1 season? 7 Coordinators took those HC jobs. You then add the fact that means 8 different coaching staffs were most likely replaced in full, the numbers have no choice but to add up quickly. Then you have several teams like my Eagles where last year both coordinators were hired as HC's and both coordinators this season were completely justified in being let go. It's a results based league.
Jakuvious
There are few easier scapegoats than a coordinator.

He would be the second oldest head coach behind Reid.
