2024 Defensive Coaching Staff

Recommended Posts

Baltimore's defensive coaching staff has had a lot of turnover the past week or so. Here's who is left:

Zachary Orr - DC
Chris Hewitt - Secondary
Chuck Smith - OLBs
Daniel Stern - DQC
Matt Robinson - DQC

So the team needs an ILB coach to replace Orr, a DB coach to replace Wilson, and a DL coach to replace Weaver. And maybe one more if Macdonald decides to bring Hewitt to Seattle as his defensive coordinator. I'm not sure if Chuck Smith has any aspirations to be a coordinator given his background as a trainer for pass-rushers, but who knows.

There's a lot of holes in the defensive coaching staff. And it's also shaping up to be an offseason with quite a bit of change on the defensive roster as well. Arthur Maulet, Brent Urban, Daryl Worley, Del'Shawn Phillips, Jadeveon Clowney, Justin Madubuike, Kyle Van Noy, Malik Harrison, Patrick Queen, Ronald Darby, Trayvon Mullen, Geno Stone, and Rock Ya-Sin are all slated to be free agents (unrestricted or void years).

This could be quite the change on the defensive side of the ball. It will be interesting to see what direction Orr wants to take it. Obviously it would be great if it's similar to Macdonald's scheme, but without him making the game plan and adjustments that's probably not a feasible task. Not saying Orr can't be good, I would just expect it to look different.
